Standby ... Lights! Camera! Action!

Show Summary

Standby: Lights, Camera, Action! is a children's documentary series from Nickelodeon that goes behind the scenes of movie sets to show kids how studios make their favorite films. Actor Leonard Nimoy hosts the show, bringing his cameras to the sets of his friends in the film industry. Leonard starts the season with a trip to Lucasfilm studios in San Francisco, CA, to get an inside look at the making of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. At a time before computer graphics existed, director George Lucas shows audiences how to get great special effects from miniature-sized objects. Next up, Leonard takes on script writing when he stops by a Monty Python pre-production meeting. Actor John Cleese shows Leonard how he incorporates humor into a dull script. Nickelodeon covers executive producing and lighting in other episodes by going on location of a James Bond film and inside the studio built NORAD room that John Badham made for his film, WarGames. The show comes full circle at the end of the season when Leonard takes his crew to see his old friends on the set of the next Stark Trek motion picture, The Search For Spock.
