  • A fun action-oriented romp, albeit one with some gaping plot holes. Switch the brain into neutral and enjoy the sparky O'Brien/Bashir interaction, which is always a treat

'Armageddon Game' sees O'Brien and Bashir working to deactivate biogenic weapons on an alien world that has just come out of a long war between two factions, the Kellerun and the T'Lani. Unfortunately, once the deal is done, the new allies want ALL trace of the biogenic 'harvesters' eradicated - including everyone with any knowledge of them...which includes O'Brien and Bashir.

'Armageddon Game' is an exciting change of pace and it's nice to see an injection of action at a point in the series where the episodes still tend to be rather talky and static. It's great to see some development in the O'Brien/Bashir relationship, which has gone from frosty (The Storyteller) to antagonistic (Rivals) to grudging friends (here). It's all uphill from here and by the end of DS9's run they will have become such close friends that if I were Keiko I'd be a little worried...

Alas, there are some significant plot-holes and plenty of dubious logic, but if you can suspend your disbelief this is still an enjoyable, engaging episode.
