    Well, the Prime Directive is in alot of ways a self preservation issue. Because of our interference in other dimensions;
    1. Smiley and the Terran rebels stolen the plans for the Defiant
    2. Kidnapped a Federation citizen
    3. When the Nagus was held in the Mirror Universe, it resulted in a Klingon cloaking device being stolen
    4. One of the Orbs nearly got stolen

    Having our (Prime Universe) tech stolen can not only change the outcomes of events in the Mirror Universe, but could effect the outcomes of this universe eventually.

    We already covered this. Having our technology stolen by the Romulans, for example, can have very negative effects in "this" universe, too, but this is not a Prime Directive issue.

    True, but the Romulans are already aware of both of our presence and of our tech. Letting incursions into our realm just add to problems we don't need.

    To answer the original question, NO, there was never a "Dimensional Prime Directive" (in any of the series, at least).

    It does seem to be something that they would write in, though; the Federation goes out of its way to regulate everything ELSE!
