  • Perhaps a guilty pleasure episode, but by no means a classic

Bounty is a mixed bag - that has two strands to be looked at.

The main plot re-introduces the Tellarites (last seen in 1967's 'Journey to Babel'). They look great, very different to most aliens and very faithful to the original make-up. Jordan Lund puts in an average performance as Skalaar, but he doesn't get much of a script or story to stretch himself. In fact the entire Archer kidnapped plot doesn't really go anyway. I liked the connection to Duras and the Klingon's and there is some nice CGI at times.

The other plot is where lots of fans will have dismissed the episode point-blank as being ENT's attempt at Pon Farr (which has been done twice before - well with Spock in 'Search for Spock' and not so well with B'Elanna/Vorik & Tuvok throughout 'Voyager'). I'm a Jolene fan, so anything to let her get screen time is good for me, and I think she does a solid job here - Billingsley plays off her well. Although the plot again doesn't provide the dramatic tension it could have done - it's often fun, which for me can't be too bad...

An average, filler episode overall - perhaps lifted by Blalock and some nice homages to earlier Trek episodes...
