It is highly unlikely that a cure is found for T'Pol's Pon Farr; in the 24th century ("Blood Fever"; Voyager series) the Doctor has all medical knowledge of centuries and does not know of a cure, nor find any. Arguably, T'Pol underwent Ponn Farr because of a virus, but in the Voyager episode even B'Elanna could not be cured when she entered Ponn Farr as a Klingon/Human hybrid due to an accident.
T'Pol says that because of the Pon-Farr she must mate with a male, Vulcan or otherwise. Previously, Vulcan males going through the Pon-Farr have explicitly required a Vulcan female.
Though mentioned many times, this episode marks the first appearance of the Tellarites in a speaking role since The Original Series.
Mission Date: March 21, 2153
Nitpick: In season one's "Sleeping Dogs", T'Pol states that Klingons don't use escape pods. Nevertheless, in this episode, Archer escapes from the Klingon transport using an escape pod. However, although Klingons would never use escape pods if their ship is destroyed in battle, it is possible that Klingon ships nonetheless have them in case the vessel is destroyed by other means.
Skalaar: Be careful, Captain. It's likely the Klingons will double their bounty.
Archer: I hope you won't be the one to collect it.
Skalaar: No promises.
The director of this episode, Roxann Dawson, previously played Chief Engineer Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres on Star Trek: Voyager.
