  • Great for Hoshi fans and a very well written story!

One of my favorite episodes from the Enterprise series as it features Hoshi, who is adorable, but also highly sensitive and intelligent. This is a companion piece to the season two ep where Hoshi begins to vanish from sight after she was beamed aboard Enterprise during a heavy electrical storm. There is some excellent character development here as the writers had a rare chance in season three to dissect motivations, thoughts and emotions. Hoshi and the exiled alien are two very similar beings who also were not meant to be together. The Xindi menace in season three is largely plot and action driven to satisfy the masses, but this is a good example of an ep that emotionally resonates with the audience even after the show is over.moreless

  • I think Every Trek series needs a tired episode like this.

I think Every Trek series needs a tired episode like this.

lonely stranded alien needs a companion and chooses a member of the crew to remain with him whether they want to or not.

An Uninspired re-hash of of the "Everyone needs a friend" theme. they also missed a key situation to finally be rid of Hoshi... the back story regarding the sphere was choppily done as well. a complete filler episode that could have been used a lot better during the Xindi story arc.

Been there, Done That got the t-shirt.

Trek is like Pizza though... even when it's bad... it's still pretty good.moreless

    • Trivia: When Enterprise arrives at Tarquin's planet, the view from space shows that one of the continent's looks similar to that of the African continent on Earth. Edit
    • Nitpick: Considering his lonliness in isolation, and Hoshi's refusal to stay, it seems odd that Tarquin wouldn't request to come aboard Enterprise. Edit
    • Nitpick: When the power goes off on Enterprise, the bridge monitors merely project a full screen of black, but do not actually go off. Edit

    • Beauty and the Beast: Hoshi, as the pretty, intelligent and shy girl, is trapped with a scary looking non-human, who is surprisingly sophisticated, brilliant and charismatic, but tragically lonely. Edit
