No offense intended to his fans, but I agree with Patrick, he has become too old to play the part. Would be nice to have him cameo as an Admiral but that would be enough. That's why I support Sisko coming back -- especially after his dealings with the Romulans in the Dominion wars and to also see what all he has taken in from the Prophets.
A mini-series is less risky, I agree -- and since they have already started a DS9 line of books, why not draw ideas from there?

Ok....if the time travel is too old of a storyline. I would like to see the Romulan War being drugged about the quadrants though.

Different species from the Non-Federation side of the Romulan empire should be prominent. BTW..you ever notice that whether Klingon or Romulan..etc, we never really see many other species that reside in those empires.

    Hmmm..some perspective ideas;

    1. A Bajorian Starship; the first ever Bajorian built Federation Starship. Maybe a certain Colonel Kira could be it's captain for it's initial run into the Romulan War. Maybe call the ship Sisko, Opaka or something along those lines. The ship would def be Bajorian in design..yet incorporating the improvements brought by Voyager.

    2. Cardassia; we all love Cardassians. I think they need to bring out ol Garak, a now prominent but fallen leader, and use him for some old fashion Obsinian Order type spying. He did use to work on Romulus.

    3. Commander Nog; In the years since the end of DS9, we see Commander Nog being forced into his first command of a starship deep within Romulan space. Essence of the Reliant episode would play out in his mind.

    4. Romulan Warship; we haven't got to see alot of the speicies in a way. The closest was when Troi infultrated back in the Next Generation time. Would be nice to see how the other side views the conflict. And how other Romulan contolled species work within the empire. I see this ship taking care of an uprising that has nothing to do with the main war. Just a species tired of Romulan rule and taking advantage of the time to try and leave.

    5. Dominion; wouldn't think of it as a major plot device. Mostly a third party angle. Imagine being on the opposite side of the galaxy and yet alot of your life is dicated or changed by Alpha Quadrant political life. A Changling is chosen to influtrate (using all it's shapechanging abilities) and just see whats going on. DS9 would be a place to stop, Sisko's on Earth, Federation ship and a Romulan Ship. I would see this as filling in gaps for the series.

Again..just some ideas. Some old Star Trek characters making appearances so the audience won't have to learn all new characters. New tech, new angles....it would make a killer mini-series and if fans would like any of the eps..maybe a new show.

no more time travel! it's just a bad idea, and you end up w/ the possibility of having a reset button. Remember "Year of Hell" in the end it was like nothing ever happened! just a waste of time in my mind.

if we're doing something about the romulans then have it either involve the founding of the federation, or have it take place after nemesis w/ the titan.

the dominion is a good idea, and so is a mini series based on the klingons. i think it's a good idea to do just a series where each season would be based off of a novel, so you have a new season w/ new characters each season.

Maybe a five part mini-series each year or so about a novel. It would be cheap, and if the mini-series is a hit, then it can be a series. w/ that approach you can have trials and error and not be bogged down w/ a series but just small cheap projects.

I like the mini-series ideas here so far, but given how bankrupt Berman is in original thinking and how unwilling he is to consider suggestions like ours, I can see him trying to copy the already tired formulas floating all over network tv now.
    Examples would include:

    Section 31, Special Investigations Unit
    Klingon Survivor
    Federation Idol
    Two Guys And A Tribbble
    Prison Trek

These could be the line-up of an all-Trek network, similar to the Trek News Network Deanna mentioned, one that Berman could show his fans the love with, by charging $24.95 a month. (no ads, we're honest) Other shows would include:

    Desperate Borg Drones
    Orion Girls Gone Wild
    Andoria's Most Wanted
    Federation Inventor
Cooking With Riker - special guest, the Iron Sisko
    60 Lightyears
    The K-Team
