  • The crew of the Enterprise happens upon a crashed Insectoid Xindi ship. Captain Archer is sprayed with some kind of fluid that causes him to imprint on them as his own young to take care of.moreless

    7.0
I disagree with the overall moral of this episode. Captain Archer may have been infected against his will, but I believe (and any loyal Star Trek viewer would too) that he was doing the right thing in trying to save helpless lifeforms. It becomes Starfleet protocol to do exactly that. The fact that it took some of their antimatter shouldn't have been a concern. Antimatter can be replaced. The mission would still have been there in a few days it would have taken to ensure the lives of the rest of the insect Xindi young.

The mutiny was necessary under the circumstances, but leavling the other 17 Xindi babies to die before they were even able to hatched was just plain wrong.

This episode was poorly written and a bad example to set.

    Giving it a 7.0 is being generous.moreless
  • Archer becomes irrational after being infected with some Xindi liquid...

    6.5
This episode was slightly annoying as the audience could tell in advance that Archer would become infected by the Xindi liquid while the crew milled around looking confused. It was funny to see Archer place under arrest T'Pol, then Reed - soon to be followed by Trip and Phlox...maybe we could have seen Mayweather and Sato in charge but we didn't get there...

The best scenes were between Hayes and Reed. Their previous fight/animosity has envolved into grudging respect for each other.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • Major Hayes suggests extra targeting practice for the senior officers on Monday nights. Reed believes Commander Tucker will object because Monday is movie night, however, it has been firmly established throughout the series that Tuesday nights are movie night.

    • Mission Date: January 8, 2154

    • In T'Pol's "acting Captains log", she states that they have resumed a course to Azati Prime, and the exterior view of the ship shows Enterprise at warp. However, in the next scene, Archer tells Trip to have Travis set a course for Azati Prime at maximum warp, and Trip makes no reference to the fact that they were already under way.

    • Trivia: Phlox refers to Starfleet Regulation 104 - Section C, giving him authority to medically relieve Archer as unfit for duty. Dr. McCoy previously quotes the exact same regulation in The Original Series episode, "The Doomsday Machine".
