I was wondering why it's USS (for either United Space Ship or United Star Ship, depending on where you read what it stands for), and NOT UFS (for United Federation Ship). The reasoning behind this is simple: our US Naval ships are USS (for United States Ship) since they're a part of the US Navy which is a part of the United States (of America) government. And since the Enterprise and other StarFleet ships of "Star Trek" and it's spin-offs, movies, books, etc. are a part of StarFleet (the equivalent of the US Navy) which is itself a part of the United Federation (of Planets) government, shouldn't it be UFS instead of USS?? Just wondering.
