Star Trek: The Next Generation

Season 6 Episode 10

Chain Of Command (1)

Aired Unknown Dec 14, 1992 on CBS

  • Trivia

    • At 21:44 in the episode, Picard mistakenly refers to Celtris III as "Celtis III".

    • The exterior shots of the shuttle that Picard, Worf, and Crusher show that they are in a Type-7 shuttle. However, the interior shot is consistent with the smaller Type-6 shuttlecraft.

    • During the scenes on the Enterprise, Admiral Nechayev isn't wearing a communicator badge.

    • This is the first episode that Deanna Troi starts to wear a standard Starfleet uniform, as requested by Capt. Jellico.

    • If Celtris III was an uninhabited Cardassian planet (as asserted by many, including Picard), why would Solok make cargo runs there (as also asserted by Picard)?

  • Quotes

    • Gul Lemec: What is going on? I have been waiting here for over an hour!
Jellico: I'm Captain Jellico. I believe you know Commander Riker and this is Lieutenant Commander Troi. Let's get to it, shall we?
Gul Lemec: This treatment is a deliberate insult to the Cardassion Union. I have been kept waiting here for over an hour!
Jellico: Then I'm sure you're ready to talk.

    • Cardassian Interrogator: You should prove an interesting challenge, possibly the most interesting to come through that door in many years ... in this room, you do not ask questions, I ask them, you answer and if I am not satisfied with your answers, you will die.

  • Notes

    • The look of the Cardassian uniforms has been given a redesign since their last appearance in season five's "Ensign Ro."

    • Stock footage of Moab IV matte painting from "The Masterpiece Society" is recycled for the surface and habitable structure of Torman V here.

    • Shot of Enterprise side-by-side with the Excelsior-class ship recycled from "Best Of Both Worlds."

    • The part of Solok was originally supposed to be Quark (and thus played by Armin Shimerman), thus being a crossover with Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

    • David Warner also played St. John Talbot in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, & Chancellor Gorkon in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

    • This episode was originally intended to be the first crossover episode with Deep Space Nine. Rick Berman and Michael Piller thought it was too early to do a crossover episode and the idea was put on hold until later that year.
