I'm a little confused about Alexander's age.  In The Star Trek Encyclopedia, as well as at StarTrek.com, the information says that Alexander was born in 2366, but the episode he is first introduced in takes place in 2367, and I would say he's no younger than 4.

That is nothing! Just look at what happened to Data's cat. Space can be very dangerous.

Klingons probably just mature at a faster rate than Earthlings.

They CERTAINLY age differently, that's for sure.

Something else I just read about K'Ehleyr, Alexander's mother:  From the way it was written it sounds like Alexander was conceived in 2359.  I may have mis-interpreted what it said, but still . . .

Worf should be glad he went through a human and not Klingon birth with Keiko. Space can be very dangerous indeed.

By throwing heavy objects, if you mean the obstetrician, can see that. Given how fast they mature, nursing would be out of the question as well.

"The forty-third day of Maktag, stardate 43205."

Would like to see a Klingon calendar to verify that, eh?

They've come out with every other type of Star Trek gimmick (like the Klingon/English dictionary). A calendar wouldn't surprise me.

Don't forget the Klingon horoscope. Maybe he was born under the sign of the Targ.

Think Klingon years are different from Human years otherwise it doesn't make any sense.

Yeah I read somewhere birthdates for Riker and Worf. It seemed like riker was like 30 some and Worf was like 25 (in the first year of TNG) and it also said Klingons live up to only 50 years or so yet they look like there 70. So basically it seems that Klingons do age faster. Which is weird because they have redundant body organs .

I thought that I remember reading about this somewhere. Here is a bullet point from Alexander's Memory-Alpha.org page.

Alexander was portrayed by three different actors over an eight-year period, which established that Klingon youths mature more quickly than do Humans. He first met his father in 2367 (age one, played by Jon Steuer TNG: "Reunion") appearing to be about four years old. He was later seen from 2368-2370 (age two-four, played by Brian Bonsall) appearing to be about ten years old. Alexander then served on the Rotarran (age eight, played by Marc Worden) appearing to be at least sixteen. Ronald D. Moore addresses this directly when talking about DS9: "Sons and Daughters": "We're pegging Alexander as being roughly the equivalent of a thirteen to sixteen-year-old Human male, although his actual age is much younger. Hey, Klingons mature faster, okay?" [2] This was also seen with Toral. This phenomenon is often referred to as Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome.

I think this is the best answer.

    I don't care for the writer's explanations.

As far as I'm concerned Alexander was born before Next Gen started and is a teenager by the time he appeared in DS9.

It's too dumb to think of him as an 8 year old on DS9.

I always felt it was a case of the writer having one storyline and the director having another. They needed some one to interact with Worf. Besides can you see Worf changing diapers? They do this in the Soaps all the time. A baby boy has a teenager girl as a baby setter. Then the boy is an older child/young teen who has a crush on the girl who is still a teenager. The boy is then in college and is older than the girl (who at one time was his baby sitter) and is dating the girl. The girl is still a teenager and may or may not still be in high school. It also does not help when you don't use the same writers for every show.

The Bible was also done in Klingon and to this day I wish I had gotten a copy. If any one know where I can please let me know.
