OK, pick up your stones, I'm ready.
I wasn't that upset by Tasha Yar's death. I just could never really connect or identify with her and she didn't seem to bring anything special to the crew (in my eyes). But as to the manner of her death... it always seemed kind of weak to have a main character taken out by an evil tar monster. But maybe that was the point, to highlight how senseless it was. It probably would have been more poignant to me if I had cared more about the character.
Ok guys ready aim throw stones, lol ok i agree with how senseless it was.In the original series a character would have to be wearing a red shirt to get that kind of treatment.

    LOL

I should probably add some mitigation: I really liked her in "Yesterday's Enterprise" and I also liked the character Sela.

Trust me, as an 8 year old I found Tasha's death shocking. As a child you get attached to characters more easily so at that age Tasha being killed by an oil sick monster is going to be frightening, even though she appeared only for one season.

I was found of her since besides her interactions with data she always seemed somewhat robotic,i guess thats why she liked data so much.

Maybe that's why it didn't upset me too much, because I was watching as a jaded teenager.

Yar: What I want now is gentleness, and joy, and love... from you, Data; you are fully functional, aren't you?

It's funny. At the end of The Naked Now, she says to Data... " It never happened". In a cut line from the funeral of Tasha. She begins her speech to Data.. " It happened!" Roddenberry thought it was silly, so they cut it.

Yes. The last thing the crew want at Tasha's funeral is to know about an androids private life. That hologram of Tasha might say, "Yeah Data, you were successful!".

I dont recall the episode but it involved a trial where Data's and Tasha's relationship was revealed by data on the stand so they still found out.

Anything could change. I think we may see friendly allies turn bad with enemies turn good. Who knows, maybe the Cardassians will come across more as genuine victims of their situation.
