This lighthearted episode serves as a vehicle to bring back Deanna's mother back for her annual visit and bring forth the oft forgotten Will/Deanna relationship. The plot is paper thin, but the characters shine because the actors play up their endearing quirks, which have been well incorporated into the story by the writers. The subplot with Wesley (and its resolution) seem a throwback to the first season, but at least he's getting better dialogue here, and the subplot joins up nicely with the main story. All in all, however, this is one of those perfectly acceptable/not too memorable episodes.
