If time for the Enterprise and the Romulan vessel has slowed down to the point where disruptor blasts and warp core breaches seem suspended in time, then the light emitted from them and indeed anything else, would also be suspended. So the crew wouldn't have been able to even see the ships or their interior.
Trivia: Near the beginning of the episode while Counselor Troi recounts the first "frozen time" incident involving Captain Picard, Geordi, and Data, she takes a deep breath and taps behind her right ear several times. This is the Betazoid relaxation technique demonstrated in a counseling session to help Lt. Barclay overcome his transporter phobia in the episode "Realm of Fear."
At the beginning of the episode when Picard, Data and Laforge appear to be frozen from Troi's point of view, she was sitting down before it happened. While they were frozen she stands up until they are unfrozen. From the frozen trio's point of view they would have seen Troi go from sitting down to standing up almost instantly and right next to them. This should have caused a shocking surprise to them but they just continue on with their conversation for a few seconds before reacting to Troi's concerned look.
Throughout the episode, the frozen crew members can be seen to visibly sway or breath.
When everything is returned to normal after the time anomolies, the Romulan Warbird disappears. Picard later says that the Enterprise had evacuated the Romulan crew, however the Warbird disappeared with only those few Romulans shown on the Enterprise. So where did the rest of the Romulan crew come from?
Aboard the Romulan ship, after time starts running, runs backwards and freezes, Geordi notices that someone is standing in a different spot than they were. Wouldn't Data have noticed that first?
In the scene where the three beam onto the Romulan ship, Troi tells Geordi to look at the "Power Distribution Console", and she and Data look at another panel on the wall behind Geordi. When the camera shot shows them from behind, Troi has her hands on her lower back, the camera then switches in front of them and her hands are then limp at her sides. Since when can Betazoids could move that fast?
Riker: I was trying to feed Spot.
Beverly: Data's cat?
Riker: I said I'd feed him while he was gone... I put down the food. Next thing, this hissing ball of fur came at my face. I hate cats.
Geordi: Captain. I think this is gonna work, but it's gonna take some time.
Picard: Well, Mr. LaForge, it seems that time is something that we have plenty of.

This is the only time, in either TNG or DS9, that we see the rear compartment of a runabout.
This episode features DS9's Runabout-style ships, which was built on TNG's budget to help out with the new series.
