Drive was a perfect and pretty entertaining episode of Star Trek: Voyager and I really enjoyed watching this episode because it had a lot of great character development for Tom and B'Elanna. It was a fun episode with a great story about a space racereminiscentof the races from Star Wars. There was action, suspense, mystery, intrigue, and a great ending. I look forward to watching the next episode!!!!!!!!!

  • It's a nice day to - start again! Ow!....

    5.0
So, Voyager's final season sees Paris and Torres struggle with their relationship a little - only to end up getting married at the end. Well, that certainly makes season seven's "Drive" an important episode in Star Trek: Voyager's history - but it does not make the episode great.... or even good. The dialogue is miserable (cheesy lovy dovy stuff that makes Lifetime viewers sick) and the writing of the all the characters is just awful.

The story begins with Paris and Kim test driving their ship, the Delta Flyer, where they run into an alien woman Irina. She challenges them to a race, they beat her, and she then invites them to participate in a race that is being held in the system. But this race is not all for fun and games, it is an important race that brings together groups of people who have recently reached a peace after being at war for years. Paris convinces Captain Janeway (who is a little too enthusiastic about a race) to participate - but things get complicated later on as the race progresses.

This episode is not completely bad but it certainly is not one of Voyager's better episodes. The writing is pretty bad - Torres is having questions about her and Paris' relationship and then suddenly at the end they are getting hitched. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. The dialogue is really quite bad - any time Paris and Torres are talking lovingly to one another the audience is just rolling their eyes and Janeway's captain's log for the end of that day is especially hilarious - why would she include anything about Paris and Torres getting some time off in her log (she does not say that it is her personal one)? Then Kim gets a crush on Irina the racing chick - and I am still not sure if this storyline is bad because of the writing, the acting, or both. Either way, "Drive" is not one of the good episodes of Star Trek: Voyager.moreless
  • What's going on with Tom Paris' hair color? Is he a blond?

What's going on with Tom Paris' hair color? Is he a blond?

If you found yourself wondering about this question then it's probably because this is a very boring episode. Voyager encounters a group of aliens who have recently concluded a peace agreement. As part of that agreement, a "race" is scheduled as a passive way for the various groups to get to know each other.

For some unfathomable reason, Janeway decides to crash this happy party and enter the Delta Flyer in the race. Meanwhile, Torres and Paris are having some relationship difficulties. She wants a romantic halodeck interlude. He wants to race. She wants to support him and share his interest. YAWN. As in any romantic comedy, there is corruption which requires a lot of plot hurdles to overcome. In the end, Paris proposes and she accepts. They marry…and who cares???

    The whole thing is boring…moreless
  • the marriage of tom and b'elanna!

this is one of my all time favorite episodes. it starts off with tom and harry testing out the rebuilt delta flyer and entering this space race. all the while b'elanna has been trading favors with crewmates so tom and b'elanna can have this weekend getaway on the holodeck. tom forgets about it and b'elanna leads him to believe she's okay with it when she's really contemplating calling the relationship off. when she tries to co-pilot the flyer in the race with tom, they get into a spat, and things start falling apart. it turns out the delta flyer is rigged to explode and while on the brink of annihilation, tom proposes to b'elanna. it's such a great moment and tugs at the heart strings. this is a big reason why i got hooked to the show.moreless

    • B'elanna: (after Tom asks her to marry him) I'm thinking about it.
      Paris: Think faster.
B'elanna: Why, you gonna withdraw the question?
Paris: No. But I may just have to beg. And that could get embarrassing.

    • Paris: 'B'Elanna Paris'. That has a nice ring to it.
B'Elanna: Thanks, but I already have a ring. Anyway, I kind of like the sound of 'Tom Torres'.
      Paris: I hope you're kidding.
B'Elanna: Hey... it is the 24th century.

    • Paris: (complimenting Harry on his new girlfriend) No, no, actually, I was gonna congratulate you. I mean, she's not a Borg, she's not--a hologram, and she's not dead? Looks like you might have finally found yourself the perfect woman!

    • The Doctor: What race? I was referring to your romantic getaway.
      Paris: Oh, no.
The Doctor: Don't tell me you forgot.
Paris: Do me a favor Doc. Keep a lock on my bio-signs.
      The Doctor: What for?
Paris: Because in about five minutes there may be a medical emergency in Engineering. (dashes out)
The Doctor: Maybe I can get that tee time back.

    • B'Elanna: Endless kilometers of crystalline beaches, mood reefs, bio-luminescent waterfalls.
The Doctor: And a championship golf course if I'm not mistaken. Why don't I just join you?
B'Elanna: Somehow I don't think that would add to the mood.
The Doctor: Don't be so sure. You haven't seen me in a bathing suit.

    • Janeway: We're always willing to go that extra light-year for a good cause.
