Drone was a perfect episode of Star Trek: Voyager and I really enjoyed watching this episode because the story was awesome and The Doctor and Seven of Nine basically had a baby together. The Drone later known as One, proved to be unique and quite capable of emotion. There were some touching scenes between Seven and One near the end as he chose his fate. Captain Janeway certainly knows how to roll the dice, as she puts this unknown advanced Borg Hybrid to work aboard Voyager. The episode was entertaining, the acting was perfect, and there was so much character development. I look forward to watching the next episode!!!!!!!!!moreless
  • Very good indeed!

Well built and directed episode. Doctor's stand alone unit breeds with some of 7 of 9 nanoprobes and genetic material from Anson whatever. That makes 7of9 his mother. Against all common sense Janeway, still not free from the boredom from the previous episode decides to keep the "Thing" alive just "to see what happens". Good for us that could watch to an incredibly good episode. I love this one in spite that "One", the super 29th century enhanced Borg behavior looks a bit like a drunk duck. To say more would be repeat the other's reviews.

But the beginning scene of B'Elana hiding her body from the doctor, although funny makes me think if in the 24th century we will be still that inmature regarding sex and sexuality.moreless
  • Due to a transporter accident, the Doctor's mobile transmitter and some of Seven's nanoprobes are merged. Later DNA from Ensign Mulcahy is extracted by the growing mechanism and a 29th century drone is born. Seven trains him and his service is exemplary.moreless

When a 29th century drone is created by accident from the Doctor's mobile emitter, Seven's nanoprobes, and DNA from an ensign, Seven has the opportunity to develop some of her human qualities. She teaches him, helps him to understand why individuality is superior to the collective, and in the process discovers aspects of her humanity she had forgotten. When the drone contacts the collective subconsciously and a sphere appears, He, named One, goes to the sphere to explore and then destroys it. Knowing that the Borg know he exists and that he possesses 29th century qualities. One realizes they will not stop until they find him. He unilaterally decides to refuse medical treatment and die, despite Seven's impassioned pleas to let the doctor treat him. She tells him he is hurting her, something she had said when he was first activated and hurt her trying to access her knowledge. He stopped that first time, but with the stakes so high he knows that hurting her now, by dying, will actually save her and Voyager.moreless
  • Super Borg created by fusion of Doctors Holoemitter and some crewman's DNA. Borg has 29th Century tech, dies at the end of the episode saving Voyager. But his body is fine. His technology clearly intact.moreless

The problem I have with this episode is the same I had with the Hue episode. Once again, we have Borg tech just sitting around for the Federation to examine.

Hue's shuttle and the debris from the Cube that arrived at Earth before being destroyed but not disintegrated. Now One, his body on a slab in the Medical Bay. Don't Seven's nanoprobes regenerate tissue and revive nearly dead people? Couldn't she have integrated his 29th century tech into herself? One upgraded the Voyagers shields and weapons to deal with the Borg attack. I hope they were able to keep those upgrades.moreless
  • Torres, Paris, The Doctor, and Seven are on a shuttlecraft. A nebula explodes causing a sheering effect destroying the shuttlecraft. The away team is beamed back to “Voyager”. Somehow their patterns get mixed.moreless

Torres, Paris, The Doctor, and Seven are on a shuttlecraft. A nebula explodes causing a sheering effect destroying the shuttlecraft. The away team is beamed back to “Voyager”. Somehow their patterns get mixed. Don’t worry the transporter chief is able to correct this problem. The Doctor’s emitter is damage during the transport. Torres transports The Doctor’s program back to sickbay. Torres takes the emitter to the science lab to be repaired. The emitter takes on a mind of its own. Before long, it turns into a Borg drone. This Drone has 29th century technology of its own.moreless
