  • A good premise that turns into a muddled mess of plot contrivances.

    5.3
    Oh boy, where to begin.

There's no problem with the concept of this episode. It's nothing new, but at least it presents an interesting dilemma for Voyager to overcome (and quickly).

The Tuvok background flashbacks and subsequent semi-love story are ridiculous. This isn't character development, it's pointless reminiscence in a $20 cave set.

Why is Tom Paris so quick to raise the white flag ? Since when does Voyager abandon people ?

Both alien species in this episode are space-faring races. Yet, on the planet, they are presented as little more than an undeveloped obstacle for the crew to overcome. The Doctor's translator is working; why don't they communicate ? Help is on the way. What's the problem, would it take away too much time from the painful student-teacher lessons for Tuvok ?moreless
  • Gravity

    9.0
Gravity was a superb episode of Star Trek: Voyager which had a lot of character development for Tuvok as he is confronted with a new love interest in Noss and there are flashbacks to his emotional suppression training as a young Vulcan. The aliens in this episode were interesting as well. The story was pretty good, the acting was excellent and I was very entertained. I look forward to watching the next episode!!!!!!!moreless

A female from a D-class planet sees something falling from the sky. Tuvok and Paris crash their shuttlecraft on a D-class planet. The woman raids the shuttlecraft taking what she can find until Paris stops her. The woman runs and is attacked by some more alien thieves. Tuvok rescues her and bring her back to the shuttlecraft. Paris gives her medical attention. It may seem like hours to the away team. On Voyager only a few minutes have passed. This planet is located in an area of subspace where time runs a lot faster. Will Tuvok and Paris be saved?moreless
  • Tuvok, Tom Paris, and the doctor Crash Land on a Planet becase of intense gravity they connot escape from the planet

    8.5
Tuvok, Tom Paris, and the doctor Crash Land on a Planet becase of intense gravity they connot escape from the planet. they meet this girl named Noss she cannot speak english at first but she learns to speak it. she falls in love with Tuvok, who does not return these emotions becase he is a Vulcan and he has been trained all of his life to surpress emotions. Tom knows he does experiance emotion but he just hides them. the fact that Noss loves Tuvok reminds him of a time in his past when he was a young man who fell in love with a girl in his class. I belive that Tuvok really loved Noss but he could not show it becase of the years of emotional surpression training he goes through, throughout his life. Tuvok says the reason Vulcans surpress there emotions is becase they need to control there emotionons or their emotions will control them. in humans it is often reccommended that we express out emotions so not to keep them bottled up inside of us until we develope emotional problems. I belive that Tuvok has been around humans for so long on Voyager that he is starting to lose some control of his emotions and feel the want to express them and to love. Tuvok also experiances another conflict toward Noss, the fact that he is already married. Tom tried to convince him that he probably will never see his wife again. but Tuvok can't help having mixed feelings, loveing his wife but also loveing Noss.

I thought this was a great episode, Tuvok had an internal struggle with his emotions, which doesn't usally trouble him.

at the end Tuvok shows effection for Noss. after they are resuced by voyager, he does a Vulcan Mind meld which connects there minds. although it is not clear what he told her. we can assume he told he how much he loved her.

I give this episode an 8/10 for character develpment, which definatly made up for the lack of action such as combat and figtingmoreless
