Star Trek: Voyager

Season 7 Episode 12

Aired Wednesday 8:00 PM Jan 24, 2001 on UPN

  • Trivia

    • Goof: Neither Janeway or The Doctor should have even considered B'Elanna's request to genetically resequence their child, as this was strictly forbidden after the Eugenics Wars that were started by Khan Noonien Singh and other genetically-engineered "supermen". This is shown in great depth in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine with Dr. Bashir before this episode aired and seems to have been totally ignored here.

    • Goof: The flashbacks in this episode indicate that B'Elanna's father left her mother when she was 12 years old. However, in the season one episode "Faces", she said he left the family when she was 5 years old, and during Season 5's "Extreme Risk", she states that her father left when she was six.

  • Quotes

    • Chakotay: Have you checked the warp core for radiation leaks today?
      B'Elanna: No, why?
Chakotay: You have a certain... glow about you.

    • Neelix: As they say on Talax, 'Omara S'alas', 'Good news has no clothes'.

    • Paris: You're in a good mood.
B'Elanna: It's another beautiful day in the Delta Quadrant.
Paris: What did you have for breakfast?

    • (feeling the baby kicking)
The Doctor: Fiesty little thing, isn't she? I wonder where she gets that from.

    • Kim: Kidding aside, how's it feel?
Paris: It's... It's not quite real yet.
Kim: Maybe that's what pregnancy is for. Time to let reality sink in... before your life spins out of control. (pats Tom on the shoulder)

    • Icheb: I'm detecting another life-sign.
      Seven: Where?
Icheb: Inside Lieutenant Torres. It could be a parasite.
Seven: Seven of Nine to the Doctor.
      The Doctor: Go ahead.
Seven: I'll be accompanying Lieutenant Torres to Sickbay.
      The Doctor: What's wrong?
      Seven: I believe she's pregnant.

    • B'Elanna: Oh, I don't mind people suggesting names. What annoys me is all of the free advice about feeding, discipline.
Paris: Folk wisdom is my favorite. According to Chell, Bolians believe that if you give birth near a warp core it'll improve the baby's disposition.
