  • Voyager encounters a derelict prison ship. 8 murderers onboard are to be executed, which creates an "ethical" dilemma for the Voyager crew.

    1.4
The episode focuses on Iko and Joleg, two murderers, and how the crew attempts to befriend and rehabilitate these murderers. Everything is not as it first appears, and the plot twists and turns.

The episode is fairly stereotypical, and doesn't advance the metaplot of Voyager. An interesting contrast is the conflict between the Nygeans and the Federation in their view on crime and punishment. To the Nygeans, the victims are the only ones taken into consideration. To the Federation, only the rights of the criminals are important. The enlightened Voyager crew sheds tears for serial killers and condemn the families of the victims for punishing them.

In the end, the episode seems more like bleeding heart propaganda a la Boston Legal than an exciting Star Trek episode.moreless

    8.0

Repentance was a great episode of Star Trek: Voyager and I really enjoyed watching this episode because it had a lot of character development especially for Seven. It was also cool to see Jeff Kober who later played some good roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It was interesting to watch Seven try to help Iko since her Nano probes helped to change him into a moreconscientious being and she was trying to make up for the bad things she had done as a Borg Drone. The episode ended in a not so happy way but it was a good story. I look forward to watching the next episode!!!!!

Voyager responds to a distress call. An alien ship has been badly damaged. The ship is carrying prisoners. The prisoners have committed crimes. A group of nine is beamed to a cargo bay. Two of them are beamed directly to Sickbay. We learn that some of the group that beamed over is prison guards. The prisoner who went to Sickbay takes Seven as a hostage. Janeway thinks it is best to construct a group of holding cells in the Cargo Bay. In the Cargo Bay some of the guards beat on one of the prisoners. Janeway is not happy. I rate this episode a 8.9moreless
