  • Cloak of Darkness...

    7.5
Ashoka and Unduli are tasked with transporting the previously captured Nute Gunray to Coruscant for trial for war crimes. They hand over custody of the prisoner to senate commandos who, unbeknownst to them are lead by a corrupt Separatist pawn. At the same time Ventress boards the ship with a droid army to try and recapture or kill Gunray so he cannot hurt them by handing over secrets to the Jedi. There is a sizable amount of action and lightsabres flying all over the place as the Jedi and the clones try to keep the prisoner, but ultimately he escapes. The senate commando is betrayed by Ventress in the end and murdered as Gunray and she set off to join the Separatist fleet. The Jedi muse on the idea of traitors in their midst and they set Kit Fisto and his padawan after the escapees.moreless
  • The Jedi return after the Jar Jar debacle!

    10
This was a great episode in my opinion. Luminara was a nice highlight to balance the novice Ahsoka. But the roles were kinda reversed, as Ahsoka saved her life. It is nice to see that they are following a common story arc. This arc did kind of start sluggish, with the Jar Jar episode. Asajj Ventress is one of my favorite villains in the star wars universe. I like that Rattataki species. It was good to see her in action again after a long break. There is alot than can happen with this show, and they are really writing it well up to this point.moreless
  • Ahsoka joins Jedi Master Luminara Unduli in transporting recently captured Nute Gunray to Republic space. The Separatists and their top assassin, however, have other plans.

    9.0
Certainly one of the better episodes of season one of the Clone Wars. For one thing, we're introduced to a number of new characters and concepts that are interesting and cool additions to the show. Whether it's the Senate guard (one of the few non-clone combat units we've seen thus far) or the first appearances of Luminara as well as Commander Gree from Episode III, new elements spring up here that add more to the shows established universe. The story itself works well, as Ahsoka gets to see how things under a different master may work and the return of Asajj Ventress brings a twist to the episode. Here Ventress is at her best, using not only her considerable dark side abilities but some cunning and planning to execute her mission and for once give our good guys with less than they started with at the beginning of the day. Ventress, and the Separatists in general, needed a victory like this one so they could be seen as credible threats and it's good to know that she's a match, if not more than one, for at least some of the Order's more powerful Jedi. By the end, we've had a perilous, exciting episode, with surprises and treachery and the knowledge that in this conflict, our side won't always win.moreless
  • One of the best of the entire show!

    10
"Cloak of Darkness" is the second part of a three part story arc about Nute Gunray being captured.

This episode stars Luminara Unduli and Commander Gree, and those two alone increase the score of this episode. Asajj Ventress and Nute Gunray are the villians; while Ahsoka Tano, Captain Argyus and the Senate Commandos tag along.

This episode has one of the best lightsaber fights of the entire show, and a contender for the best combat scene of the series.

    *Spoilers Alert*

Nute Gunray is imprisoned on a lone Venator. Droid Boarding craft drop in. Chaos (and pure Brilliance!) ensures. Asajj Ventress appears and fights Ahsoka, taking out Gunray's Senate Commandos and injuring Captain Argyus. Luminara, Gree and the clones come as Ventress frees Gunray and then blows up the ships engine, causing HUGE CHAOS. Luminara and Ahsoka fight Ventress, while Argyus betrays Gree and reveals he is working for Gunray. That twist was something I didn't expect.

Then in the following chaos Argyus and Gunray escape, and Ventress follows.

Then, as it looks as if it's over, Ventress backstabs Argyus.....literally.

Ventress and Gunray escape and the heroes are left dazzled.

This episode has victory for the villians and several twists which I wasn't expecting.

Asajj Ventress was as powerful as she should've been, and Gunray was a coward as he should be.

This episode proved the Jedi aren't gods and that heroes can be killed too.

For all of the things I mentioned above, this episode scores 10/10 as it deserves.

Make 'em like this one LucasFilm!moreless
  • Oh yes it's Ladies Night, oh what a night!

    8.5
Best Bit: 3 femmes duke it out with lightsabers, oh yes. Luminara gets some spotlight. Separatist victory.

Worst Bit: The easiest infiltration in Star Wars history. Ventress needs to put some clothes on.

Insight: Separatist boarding tactics/technology. Ventress actually can succeed in a mission and manage to cause some significant damage and get away unscathed. Jedi red eye. Questions: None. One of the tightest scripts of the series so far. Coming up: Some Kit Fisto action. Some Grievous action (or not). The Grievous bachelor pad. Personally, I'm hanging out for a little more Yoda action/insight, and maybe some Sidious insight too.moreless

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Ahsoka Tano: (While interrogating Nute Gunray) Liar, liar! I'm tired of all this whining! Tell us what we what we want to know right now, or I will gut you like a Rokarian dirt-fish!

    • Nute Gunray: Listen to me! I am a very rich, very powerful individual! Let me go and I can give you money beyond your imagination!
Commander Gree: (Uninterested) That sounds like a really tempting offer. In the meantime, I have a little gift for you! (Slaps handcuffs on him)

    • Argyus: You clones could never understand, but I'm not going to spend my life serving an empty duty of servitude.
Commander Gree: And for that, you'd sell out the Republic?
Argyus: It's like I told that Padawan- sometimes being a good soldier means doing what you think is right!
Commander Gree: (Knocks Argyus down) It seems that you and I have different ideas about what it means to be good soldiers!

    • Argyus: We did it, Ventress! Our plan went off without a hitch! Don't worry, I'll be sure to credit you in my report to Count Dooku once I see him.
Asajj Ventress: Our plan? (Stabs Argyus with a lightsaber, killing him) How about I tell him when I see him myself?
Nute Gunray: I always had a good feeling about you, assassin.
