  • Great story line after a filler last time.

I loved this episode. I like how they showed that Anakin has attachments to other things besides Padme. You saw how he gets angry easily, which would show more after he becomes DV. I like how they are showing how tactical Anakin is because you didnt get to see much of it during Episode III. Everyone knew he was a great General, but now you finally get to see WHY. You get to see him build the reputation that General Grievous was talking about in Ep III. Ahsoka had to keep him in line while on the scavenger ship, he was getting a little too angry with its captain. I am excited to see the conclusion to this chapter.moreless
  • After a battle with Grievous, R2-D2 is MIA. Anakin and Ahsoka set out to find and recover him before the droid and all of his secrets can be turned over to Grievous.moreless

Not at all my favorite episode of the season and truth be told, one of the poorer efforts from the show's first year. For one thing, this episode was just kind of slow through and through. Well, save for the beginning. If there's one bright spot to the episode it's the first sequence and Anakin's use of ingenuity to take out Grievous' superior forces. It's a clever and fun moment. After Anakin loses R2, however, things grind to a halt. The reflection of Anakin missing his friend, the short search and action sequence we get with it, the arrival of a new droid to replace R2, and the finale and cliffhanger, they really just don't add up to much and make it feel like an episode where nothing really happens. The interesting thing about the multiple part episodes of The Clone Wars first season are they all feel somewhat independent of each other, where they can be more rewarding when connected but can stand alone as well. This one, however, works as neither, lacking an interesting story on its own though working a bit better with the following episode, though still falling well short of the conclusion. This one is best left forgotten.moreless
  • Downfall of a Droid...

    5.5
After a heavily action focussed start to the series, a smaller and more character driven story is given to us in this episode. R2-D2, Anakin's loyal droid is lost in the heat of battle as the general is shot down. Having an emotional connection to the droid, Anakin hasn't erased R2's memory and he is an extremely valuable military resource. With this in mind, our heroes set out to find R2 before anyone else does. Coming across a junk ship in the depths of space, they board and look for Anakin's droid, coming to the conclusion that he isn't on board when they cannot find him, they leave. However, the junk dealer has kept R2 secretly hidden away looking to sell him to the Separatists. The episode was a bit too slow for me and not very much really happened. Hence the low rating.moreless
