If you haven't heard, it is with great sadness that I announce that on January 26, 2012, Ian Abercrombie passed away at age 77. Let me first express my condolences to everyone affected.

So who do you think might replace him as the voice of Palpatine on the Clone Wars? Obviously the first choice would be for Ian McDiarmid to retake the role, but I'm guessing that's not especially likely, so do you have any other guesses or suggestions?

This is a tough one. You have to be able to enjoy yourself when playing Palpatine. The hammier, the better. "POWAH!!!!1 UNLIMITED POWAH!!!!!!1!1"

I'm at a loss to think of anyone else who sounds like Ian McDiarmid myself.

And don't say Clive Revill. He doesn't sound like the Ians either.

Here's a risky one: Mark Hamill. He was fantastic as The Joker. Second Choice Alan Rickman aka Snape from Harry Potter.
