  • When a Republic outpost stops communication on a remote, icy planet, Anakin and Obi-Wan accompany a group of officials from a nearby planet to investigate. There, they discover an isolated tribe who did not take kindly to intruders. Is war inevitable?moreless

Not a bad standalone episode, though at times it did seem somewhat pointless. Here we get a view of how one's overzealousness and lack of acceptance can lead to disaster, a situation all too real in our own world and history. We get some short character arcs throughout the episode, whether it's the chairman's fanatical devotion to wiping out the native Talz and fighting for his people to the young senator who must prove herself by broaching and securing peace with the Talz tribe after war has already seen as inevitable. It doesn't hurt that we once again get Jennifer Hale voicing a character. If I were to pick the high point of this episode, it would probably have to be the setting design. Here we see great ice and rock formations of white and blue, the constant snow storm, and blizzard, even some white-out all made for a wonderful look to the episode. A good if not great episode.moreless
  • Good Episode

    8.0
This episode dealt with Obi-Wan and Anakin visiting the planet of Pantoria where recent attacks on their clone troopers have been killed. They get to the planet and meet with the senator and high chair. They discover another race on the planet, that no one had thought lived there. The Pantorians decide to go to war with the Talz, rather than live in peace. Many clone troopers are killed in battle, and the high chair is gravely wounded. The senator and the jedi now must come to the rescue. This was a good episode, but was really just a filler.moreless
  • An important episode warning against racism and arrogance with the great "Star Wars" flavor.

    10
One of the themes usually spoken about in "Star Wars" as an overall theme throughout the different graphic novels, books, movies, cartoon series, and other related material is that people shouldn't judge others by their appearance. This has been demonstrated in great effect in this particular cartoon series. Already, Jar Jar Binks has proven that Gungans can be surprisingly crafty and knowledgeable, and Yoda has proven that it doesn't take someone of great size to put the evil Separatists into their place. But this is one episode that definitely had tolerance and respect as one of its top themes. It's never a good idea to view others with arrogance and disdain. Feeling superiority over another species, whether its deserved or not, is ill-advised and counter-productive to peace. If it is a person's goal to treat others the way they want to be treated, then they should make it their priority to treat others with respect and tolerance, even if the way they live and what they believe isn't what someone else believes in. All species have their own means of being intelligent and living life, and understanding that was the key to ensuring that peace could reign between two different kinds of alien beings within this episode. And exciting, action-adventure episodes like this one with great morals about important life lessons is one of the reasons why I like this show so much! It's both educational and adventurous! I can't wait to see how the rest of this great cartoon series turns out! Enough said! ;)moreless

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Newsreel:
Republic outpost, overrun! The Jedi have lost all contact with the clone security force stationed on the bleak, snow-covered planet of Orto Plutonia. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, accompanied by dignitaries from the nearby moon of Pantora are sent to investigate the disappearance of the clone troopers on the desolate and forbidding landscape...

Jedi Fortune Cookie: "Arrogance diminishes wisdom."

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Obi-Wan Kenobi: (Upon landing on the frozen planet of Orto Plutonia) And this is the planet's tropical zone.
Anakin Skywalker: It's not Tatooine, that's for sure!

    • Senator Riyo Chuchi: Chairman, can you hear me?
Chairman Chi Cho: (Dying) Senator... good. You must avenge me. As my final command as chairman of Pantora, I order you to destroy the Talz.
Senator Riyo Chuchi: I'm afraid I can not do that, Chairman. The Pantoran Assembly has called you out of order. I am to negotiate peace.
Chairman Chi Cho: (Dumbfounded) No... impossible! Peace?! NEVER! I died for our... people... (Dies)

    • Senator Riyo Chuchi: (To Thi-Sen) To die for one's people is a great sacrifice. To live for one's people, an even greater sacrifice. I choose to live for my people. What do you choose? (Thi-Sen raises a spear, and plunges it into the ground)
C-3PO: He chooses to live as well.
Senator Riyo Chuchi: We shall leave Orto Plutonia under the watchful eyes of the Talz from this day forth, and recognize your sovereignty as a free and equal people.

    • Chairman Chi Cho: (To Senator Chuchi) Let me tell you something, Senator. I have led our people since before you were born. I've seen a hundred planets rise and fall through force of arms. If it's not the Separatists out there, then it is an aggressive and malevolent enemy nonetheless, and I will not let whoever it is jeopardize the security of the people of Pantora.

    • Obi-Wan Kenobi: (After landing on the ice planet) And this is the planet's tropical zone.

  • NOTES (0)

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • The shot of the Talz watching Obi Wan and Anakin Skywalker, riding their speeders, from the top of an icy canyon is extremely reminiscent of the Tuskan Raiders observing the droids and Luke Skywalker in the original "Star Wars."
