ok, pardon my ignorance - i'm poor aussie and we've only just finished SG-1 season 9 and about to start Atlantis Season 2 on tv next week i believe.

i have watched some episodes from season 2 and even season 3, but i keep thinking... have i missed something? why don't the asgard help us with either the wraith or the ori?

i mean, sure, they live in their own little galaxy, but if we get conquered by either the ori or the wraith, they'd surely find about the asgard.

did the destruction of the replicators in our galaxy only happen in our galaxy? like, do the asgards still have replicators running around their galaxy and that's why they don't help us with anything other than few bits of inferior (inferior to the asgard) technology?

i've asked at several other stargate forums and no one knew the answer so i'm dying to know.

They are rebuilding. Plain and simple.

They suffered a massive loss at the hands of the replicators and don't have much left.

They do however have an Asgard on every Daedalus class ship to help with the beamings and the hyperdrive.

They also sent one ship to battle the Ori fleet at the supergate but it got its ass kicked.

    There's your answer.

I've just been rewatching season 8 when they destroyed the replicators and i'm pretty sure it was just their galaxy that had the replicators destroyed because the gate only dialed milkyway gates. I imagine though many of the replicators from the asgard galaxy came to the milkyway with the replicarter so there probably aren't as many left for the asgard to deal with back home. If i was the asgard i would go to dekara and rig up the gate to dial their home galaxy to destroy the replicators there as well.

I have a similar question, where is Thor, we keep running into hermiod on daedalus and some other one, but Thor seems to have dropped off the map...

Thor = supreme commander of the Asgard fleet. Probably too busy helping with the rebuilding (could be an important leader amongst the Asgard). Plus, he may be too important to send into a very dangerous environment.

Then again, having more Asgard around would probably lessen the sense of danger and threat in each show.

theres one way to over power that
have the ori class ships take on a few asguard and win hands down, like on ori v 5-10 asguard
or maybe the wraith are not as big of threat as we think
and theres still another super vilan in pagasus that the asugard know about but we dont and they r staying clear of that... whio knows

Well, the Asgard weren't completely decimated before.

Yeh they kinda are, the largest group of asgard ships we've ever seen in a fight were six, and that was to defend there home world, I think it is a safe bet that the asgard probably have around only about 2 dozen or so ships.

When did they say that all the replicators were destroyed... I remember them saying that they didn't destroy the weapon on Dekara straight away cos they wanted to make sure they were gone..
Anyway, this is an atlantis page so I better stop talking about SG-1.

TBH i think that the Asgard are just going to stay in their galaxy rebuilding for a while. Humans have to be left to develop on their own so one day they can become the fifth race. Part of us becoming that is us developing the technology ourselves rather than stealing it like the Goulds did. On a more practical side it is highly likely that the Asgard wish to stay out of the wraith conflict as they don't have the numbers and that is why the ancients failed in defeating them.
Plus having the asgard hyperspace in blow up the attacking hives and then leave again isn't a very good story is it?

A possible explanation is that the Ori found the Milky Way because Daniel and Vala went to the Ori Galaxy and very quiclky Priors started to infest the place. The Asgard may be worried that if they show themselves in any significant capacity then the Ori will find and invade their galaxy and would therefore have to abandon helping the Milky Way anyway.

Has anyone noticed that there seems to be a very large portion of Australians in this thread?

Surely the fact that they sent a ship against the Ori can be considered 'significant'. The Ori view everyone as infidels and I think eventually the Ori will go after the Asgard. I think that either the Asgard aren't doing much because they don't want to admit they can't tackle the Ori, or they're working on some phatt weapon, personally I hope the latter. The Asgard need a bigger input in the show than the sole Asgard in charge of Asgard technology on board the ships.

You know, the Tok'ra have been missing too, they are mentioned in a couple of episodes, but that's it, we haven't seen one since Selmak... I really like the Tok'ra, mostly, and they should have some more Tok'ra stories.

I also miss Thor, we see a few Asgard around, but never Thor...

because the tok'ra are dying faster and has less numbers then the asgard no need to see more of them cause they all die anyway
