Episode Recap

On Atlantis, a dazed Rodney looks up at the sky… then realizes he's been tied to a table. He finds a computer with the words "Press Me" on a note, and plays back a message from himself. The recording explains that McKay wouldn't remember anything anyway, and tells him to cut himself loose with a knife taped beneath his chair. The recording then tells him to find a woman, Teyla, and not to trust anyone else. Finally, the recording notes that hundreds of lives hang in the balance.

14 hours earlier

Rodney meets with Dr. Katie Brown, who has returned with plant samples from the mainland of their new planet. He's thrilled that she's named a plant after him and tries to get her to come to lunch with him, but she says she's feeling ill. He accompanies her to sickbay where Dr. Keller checks her out and notes that other people have reported similar symptoms.

Sam and Sheppard are discussing a mission report about the discovery of destroyed Replicator ships when Keller reports in to advise quarantine. More people have reported illness and she's found an unidentified bacteria. Keller's assistant confirms that so far the symptoms seem harmless.

The Present

Rodney finds a dead man and then meets Dr. Zalenka, but neither one recognizes the other. Zalenka says there are soldiers patrolling the area and tries to get Rodney to safety. Rodney insists on finding Teyla and keeps on looking.

10 Hours Earlier

Keller advises a paranoid Rodney to relax and he tries to reassure Dr. Brown. Her headache is getting worse and she asks him to get a nurse to bring some tea… forgetting the tea next to her on the table. A nurse in Hazmat gear collapses and Keller warns Sam that the disease has breached quarantine. Rodney has dinner with Dr. Brown but she displays increasing signs of memory loss to the point that she doesn't remember who he is or where she is.

The Present

Rodney is making his way through the hallways when Major Lorne and a squad of men stun him and put him in with the others. They take some pills then continue on… leaving the computer with Teyla's image behind.

8 Hours Earlier

Sam gets the report confirming the disease has spread through Atlantis while Keller confirms the disease affects the parts of the brain that control memory. She warns that she'll start getting new patients, and she's showing symptoms as well.

The Present

Rodney wakes up in the mess hall confined with much of Atlantis' staff, including Dr. Keller. None of them remember anything and Rodney tries to find the woman on the computer file, Teyla, but she isn't there.

The Past

Sheppard and Ronon are preparing the mess hall for new patients when Sheppard starts coming down with headaches. Teyla and Ronon both appear to be fine and Ronon goes to Keller to give her the news.

The Present

Rodney notices writing on his arms and tries to organize everyone to help him escape. An amnesiac Sam lends her support.

The Past

Keller releases Rodney from sickbay since the quarantine is no longer effective. He works with Sheppard and Sam to prepare for the increased patient load, and start taking stimulants to slow down the memory loss. Sam has Zalenka remove the gate control crystal to prevent the disease's spread. Ronon visits with Keller, but she doesn't remember their previous conversation. One patient flatlines and they try to revive him but he dies.

The Present

The imprisoned staff members stage a breakout and Lorne shoots down many of them, but Rodney and Sam, escape. They realize they'll have to search Atlantis room-by-room.

The Past

Ronon and Sheppard escort more amnesiac staff to the mess hall and they're forced to consider using stunners on the more confused individuals. Sheppard goes to talk to Lorne.

The Present

Sam and Rodney run into an armed Zalenka and Rodney remembers him. They try to explain that they escaped. Zalenka has the computer and Rodney brings up the image of Teyla.

The Past

Keller confirms that the bacteria from the plants is causing the disease, and has determined that Athosians are immune. Keller warns it will take months at best to reverse-engineer the disease from their blood, but Teyla knows of a common plant cure. Sam orders them to take a Jumper to find the cure but Sam can't remember where she had Zalenka hide the Gate crystals. Sheppard calls Lorne to get Zalenka but he's gone into hiding. Sheppard and the others search for Zalenka without success and Ronon suggests they try to find the cure on their current planet's mainland.

Ronon and Sheppard take a Puddle Jumper out while Rodney starts losing his memories but Teyla tries to assure him he'll keep his scientific knowledge the longest.

The Present

Sam, Rodney, and Zalenka make their way to sickbay and try to sty ahead of Lorne and his men, who are searching for more stimulants. Sam has an idea and leads them out.

The Past

Ronon and Sheppard get to the mainland but when Sheppard starts to hesitate, Ronon stuns him and ties him up. He then takes off on his own to find the plant.

Rodney is working when Teyla goes to investigate a noise. She runs into Lorne who tries to take her to the mess hall. Teyla knocks out some of his men and escapes, while Rodney wonders what's going on. Lorne's squad manages to stun her and take her away. Rodney records the message for himself then ties himself to the desk.

The Present

Lorne tries to interrogate Teyla, but he's acting erratically due to the partial loss of memories as well as the stimulants he's taking. Sam, Rodney, and Zalenka arrive and stun Lorne, then free Teyla.

The Past

Ronon gets the plants and returns to the Puddle Jumper, only to find that Sheppard has escaped and armed himself. Sheppard gets the drop on him and demands to know who he is. Ronon tries to get through to Sheppard but the major isn't having any of it. Ronon taunts Sheppard into shooting him, noting that he has no other choice. Sheppard gives up his gun.

The Present

Rodney and the others get back to the lab and Teyla encourages Rodney to tap into his buried memories to activate the procedure to distribute the cure throughout Atlantis. He succeeds and now they have to wait for Ronon and Sheppard to return.

Lorne picks up the incoming Puddle Jumper and orders his men to intercept it as it arrives. Lorne holds them at gunpoint but Ronon points out that Lorne has a photo of Sheppard with a written explanation just in case. Sheppard tells them to obey Ronon and they get the medicine to Rodney to distribute.

Later, Sheppard wakes up in sickbay 24 hours later, while Rodney is sleeping over the unconscious Dr. Brown. She wakes up… and remembers him.
