Laws of Robotics:
The notion that the replicators cannot harm their creators (the Ancients) is the same as science fiction author Isaac Asimov's First Law of Robotics. It and the other two laws first appeared in print in 1942:
First Law of Robotics: No robot shall harm a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
Second Law of Robotics: A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
Third Law of Robotics: A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
In Star Trek: The Next Generation, it was mentioned several times that Commander Data was also programmed with these laws. The Laws of Robotics are also seen at the start of the movies Artificial Intelligence: AI and I, Robot.
