Goof: When McKay and Keller are packing the makeshift "cannon", the pole moves up and down between shots, as evidenced by the white tape stuck to it.
Carter has a picture of her father, Jacob Carter, in his Air Force uniform in her office.
Carter: I was stuck in a transporter with Zelenka for three hours!
This refers to events in the episode "Quarantine" which aired earlier in Season 4.
The planet in this episode is designated M5V-801.
This is the third episode with a title to reference music. The first two were "Duet" and "Harmony"
This is not the first time McKay refers to his sixth-grade science project. In the episode "Underground" he recounts how he built a model of an atomic bomb and was subsequently interrogated by the CIA for several hours.
Goof: When we first see Rodney on the ground after he falls down the hole he is lying on his back, but after Carter and Dr. Keller fall and we see them all lying on the ground he is laying on his stomach.
McKay: Okay, well, the grappling hook didn't work because the hook wouldn't hold our weight in the soil. The crates didn't work because Sam was too heavy. Ah, oh... we, we all would have been. I mean, our weight in general. Nothing to do with you. Uh, just, I mean... you're in very good shape. Seriously, you have like the perfect body. (Keller looks at him strangely) Oh, not that you don't. Oh, no, no. I realize that your bodies are different and, and, and, ah, ah, maybe, that, that would mean that I think that your body is imperfect. But that is not the case. No, no, no, far, far, far from it. That, that is a uh, sweet... ah. Which is to say, I mean it would be impossible for me to chose which of you...
Carter: Rest assured, you're never gonna have to.
Keller: Oh, if you had kept quiet I thought he would have gone on like that forever.
(McKay looking at his bandaged palms in the infirmary)
McKay: It's not going to scar isn't it?
Keller: Chicks dig scars.
McKay: Not the chicks I dig.
Keller: This whole place is a tetanus shot waiting to happen.
Keller: Don't move if you feel any shooting pains.
McKay: I would never move if that was the case.
(talking to two young boys)
Carter: If you help us, we'll get you whatever you want.
McKay: Oh yes, good, great idea, yes.
McKay: Maybe you should show them your…
Carter: Excuse me?
McKay: I was once a 10-year old boy too, I know what gets their attention.
McKay: What, you want to get out of here or not?
Carter: I think we can reason with them without resorting to that, thank you.
McKay: If you say so. (looks hopefully at Keller)
Keller: (about Zelenka) Well, he's a certainly a unique guy. He's always telling me how nice my hair smells. It's a little weird.
McKay: I'm going back to my room, curling up in the fetal position and sleeping for the next three days.
Keller: Oh, not quite yet.
Keller: You owe me a beer. From the bar trick thing earlier. You couldn't figure it out, so...
McKay: There was no time, I would have figured it out!
Keller: Yeah, well, eventually chimps would have been able to figure it out. But the thing is, you didn't, so I win and you owe me a beer.
McKay: I don't ever remember agreeing to the beer.
Keller: Do you want to have a drink with me or not?
McKay: (stunned) What? You want to have a drink...?
Keller: Rodney, you're not very good at this are you?
McKay: Ah, no. No, I'm not.
Keller: (laughs) Come on.
Carter: You're doing great, Rodney. You're doing just great!
McKay: (voice breaking) No, "great" is a beach with a fiber-optic hookup. This is complete agony!
Keller: Woah woah woah, wait wait, don't pull me up!
McKay: What?! Why?
Keller: I see LIGHT!!
McKay: No no no no no! Don't go toward the light! You want to stay in the land of the living!!
Keller: You can build a cannon, just like that?
McKay: Please! I have access to pressurized gas. It's a cinch. You should have seen my grade six science project, I actually had to...
McKay: Right, okay.
Carter: Jennifer, Rodney, I'll meet you at the gate in one hour.
McKay: Uh, I was rather hoping you'd go by yourself and I would...
Carter: One hour.
Keller: They're willing to move, but they have a list of demands a mile and a half long.
Sheppard: And negotiating with alien settlements is not exactly why I joined the Air Force.
(Col. Carter, Dr. Keller and Dr. McKay are on their way to see the inhabitants of the village)
Keller: (Out of breath) Man, I gotta start doing more cardio. All this back and forth is getting me winded. Couldn't we have taken the jumper?
McKay: Suck it up, it's not that bad. I have to hike this much almost everyday.
Carter: You do?
McKay: Yeah, I'm a very active person.
Carter: You are?
Keller: Your last physical would kinda contradict you.
McKay: That's private medical information that should not be so cavalierly shared in casual conversation, doctor!
Keller: I don't think it comes as a great surprise to the Colonel.
McKay: That's not the point! You know, I'm no Ronon, I'm not gonna be on the cover of Shape magazine anytime soon, but, er, I can handle myself in combat, stand my ground when I need to.
(The ground gives way and McKay falls down a shaft)
Keller: You owe me a beer by the way.
McKay: Hey, if this works I'll buy you a keg.
Keller: What if that door was sealed for a reason?
McKay: What, you think maybe there's a scary monster back there?
Keller: Steve Carell or Stephen Colbert?
Carter: Uh, Colbert I think.
McKay: Carell, but I would pick Jon Stewart over both of them. If I was forced to.
McKay: You know, I'm like a real live action star kinda.
McKay: You know, shooting guns, running around, saving people. You'd think this would be easy for me now. You'd think I'd be like super buff by now.
Keller: Come on, Schwarzenegger. Start swinging.
The shot of McKay's bloody hands was actually filmed using Chuck Campbell, David Hewlett's stand-in. Chuck also regularly appears as "Chuck the technician" in the series.
The red door Mckay and Carter try to pry open with the metal rod has a hole in it where the metal rod went through the cardboard in a previous take. The hole couldn't be removed or covered up very convincingly and so was left in.
The mining facility is on a tilted set that was re-used from the filming of Stargate: Continuum.
In his February 11th WordPress blog entry, Executive Producer/writer Joseph Mallozzi posted the transcript of a deleted scene in which Keller and Carter discuss their love lives. Keller alludes to her moment with Ronon in Quarantine while Carter admits to a "complicated" relationship with an older man in Washington. It is most likely a reference to General Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson)whom Carter has known since the premiere episode of Stargate SG-1.
Rachel Luttrell and Jason Momoa don't appear in this episode.

Carter: Brian Greene or Neil deGrasse Tyson?
Brian Green has been a professor of Mathematics and Physics at Columbia University since 1996. He is also the host of the three-part NOVA segment "The Elegant Universe" and has guested on The Colbert Report.
The Daily Show:
Carter: So, Door Number Two?
McKay: After you, Monty.
Monty Hall was the emcee of the long-running afternoon game show Let's Make A Deal. Contestants played a variety of games, with the big winner being offered the choice of three doors. If they picked the right door, they found a nice prize. If they picked the wrong one, they got "zonked"(won a booby prize).
