In the Gateroom, Lt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell is considering the Stargate while Walter mentions how he was a fighter pilot who fought against Anubis' fleet in Antarctica. Harriman comes in to bring him to General Landry, the new commander. In flashback we see how Mitchell and his fleet protected the team in Antarctica. Landry informs him he's to lead SG-1. Carter left to take care of SG's R&D project, Jackson put in for reassignment, and Teal'c left the program a month ago. Mitchell wants to work with the SG-1. Daniel is moving out when Mitchell visits him and wants to talk him into staying. Daniel declines so Mitchell goes to visit Teal'c where he is organizing the new Jaffa leadership and declines the offer. He finally contacts Sam but she's reluctant as well.
Landry is discussing O'Neill's desk and playing chess with Jack, who is preparing to move. Mitchell is reviewing new candidates without much success as he considers how he was injured and received a Medal of Honor after the Antarctica battle. They're interrupted by Vala being brought through the Stargate for a meeting to deliver a tablet for her "boyfriend" Daniel. It's in code and she's the only one who knows the cipher that will let them decode it...and find a treasure hidden on Earth. Daniel concludes that some relics Vala brought with her imply the Goa'uld and the Ancients are involved. Among the artifacts are a bracelet which she slaps on him – she puts another one on and they're linked together, assuring they'll take her with them and she'll get her share.
Not surprisingly, Dr. Lee can't remove the bracelet and Daniel collapses – the two of them can only be so far apart before they both collapse. Teal'c returns to brief them on the bracelet, which forces a Jaffa to stay close to his prisoner or punish him if he fails. Vala wasn't aware it would affect her as well and she also has no idea how to remove them. She still insists on going with them to find the treasure. While deciphering the tablet, Daniel finds a reference to Merlin, much to Mitchell's excitement.
Teal'c, Vala, Daniel, and Mitchell travel to England and ring down into a tomb indicated by the tablet where a hologram of a sword in a stone appears before them. Mitchell is unable to pull it out and then a hologram of Merlin appears, announcing them as the Knights of the Round Table. It's a pre-recorded message so they split up to search – Vala and Daniel go one way, Teal'c and Mitchell the other. Teal'c and Mitchell find a chamber with igniting pots and an altar, but are sealed in by a descending stone door. Daniel and Vala find another such chamber and get sealed in. Daniel concludes it's a test and the other two find a similar test. Vala manages to fail their test, causing the walls to descend. Mitchell manages to set off the trap in their room as well.
