  • The Stargate isnt even used, but its still thrill central

What a fab episdoe, this had got everything that made Stargate suc a great series. Easily my fave of series five so far. Any episode that had Maybourne and the NID comminting henious crimes alwys has me wanting more.

The lengths that SG 1 go to to save one of their team is brilliant, all the characters are excellently cast from the tramp, security guards and naziesque doctors. When they said they were going to remove a peice of Carters brain for medical science I was terrified.

This show reminded me of the X - Files with te two faced corrupt government agents and the team not being allowed ot make all things public knowledge.

A kickass episode from beginning to end, real edge of your seat stuff with a dab of plitical intrigue thrown in.moreless
  • Let Goa'ulds run free...

    7.4
mm.. Carter gets kidnapped - that sounds like a good storyline and it is - the conspiracy network where they are, finding the clues, Maybourne being part of it.. it is all good - little action too when they with SWAP (who gets lost as soon as they enter the building and we never see them again :P why?) to find Carter from old building. They found her - and there the story should end.. little more emotion, little more tragic.. it could have been good.. but then comes the real end - and before it little running around what looks weird... and then shooting of O'Neill and all with that Goa'uld.. anyway... not too logical episode - because why NID would need Goa'uld.. where those people even heard about the Goa'ulds and that Carter had one? I do not know..moreless
  • Sam is kidnapped ... Jack and Daniel set out to find and rescue her with their old friend, Maybourne's help.

    9.5
Great episode! It adds a lot to the series. The villanous character of Colonel John Symmonds (John de Lancie) is expanded upon. John de Lancie in my opinion, is one of the best actors from the Star Trek TNG, DS9 and Voyager series'. I am watching Stargate in sequential order on DVD, and this episode adds to the drama and suspense pertaining to the darker side of the government, interfering with the Stargate program.

I look forward to continue watching the series as these new, darker events unfold.

Definitely this is one you will not want to miss, and seems to be a precursor to more episodes with an X-Files flavor!moreless

    • Mendez: How did you get in here?
Maybourne: Well the ability to sneak around was an important prerequisite of my former occupation.

    • Simmons: You have to forgive me, I have a lot on my plate at the moment.
Jack: Yeah, it's just someone's life at stake here. Sorry to take you away from your turkey sandwich.
Simmons: It's a ham and cheese actually. And I'm the one who's sorry because you obviously wasted a trip to Washington.
      Jack: I don't think so.

    • Daniel: So, you think Maybourne's a fan of Godzilla movies?
Jack: He strikes me more of a Mothra guy.
      Daniel: Don't get it.
Jack: The NID agents use these sites to post coded messages. If I know Maybourne, he's keeping tabs on his old buddies.
Daniel: Okay. What kind of message do you want to send?
Jack: Make it, "Hutch, we need to talk." Sign it Starsky. He'll understand.

    • Homeless Guy: She was feisty, put up a fight.
      Jack: With whom?
Homeless Guy: Ninjas. Three, maybe four. Happened fast, they pulled up in a white van, grabbed her. I've been telling the police about ninjas for years.
      Jack: Right. Okay. Thanks.

    • Jack: Were you around here Saturday?
Homeless Guy: Why should I tell you?
Jack: I gave you two dollars?
Homeless Guy: I thought you were just being generous?
Jack: How generous do I have to get?

    • Mayborne: Are you going to turn me in now,Jack?
O'Neill: No, I'm starting to feel like shooting you again.

    • Maybourne: I played a lot of hide and seek as a kid. It's funny. I could always find anyone, anywhere. But they could never find me.
Jack: Because they didn't want to...

    • Bum: Well I'm just a crazy old guy with a shopping cart full of cans!
Jack: I'm just a cynical Air Force officer with a closet full of National Geographics...
      Bum: Can I have them?

    • Sam: Sir, you ok?
      Jack: I've been shot, Carter...
Sam: I know. Your vest stopped one of the bullets.
Jack: I want sleeves on my vest.
Sam: You'll be fine, help's on the way.
Jack: I'm not kidding, they should put sleeves onto these things.

    • Jack: Air Force, Colonel O'Neill.
Bum: Oh, I was in 'Nam!
      Jack: Oh yeah? What company?
Bum: Vacation! A long time ago.

    • (Receptionist is refusing to let Daniel in)
Daniel: I said: I think I just electrocuted myself! Do you have any idea what that feels like?
      Receptionist: No, but -
(Daniel shoots him with a zat)
      Daniel: Something like that...

  • NOTES (1)

  • ALLUSIONS (4)

    • Jack: I'm just a cynical Air Force guy with a closet of National Geographics.
The National Geographic Society (1888) is a non-profit educational and scientific organization. The organization sponsors and funds scientific research and exploration. It also publishes an official journal, National Geographic Magazine, and other magazines, books, publications, web and film products.

    • Jack: Ah, he strikes me more of a Mothra guy.
Mothra (Mosura) is a giant lepidopteran with characteristics both of butterflies and of moths. Usually regarded as female, she has appeared in several "giant monster" movies since her introduction in Mothra (1961).

    • Daniel: So... you think Maybourne is a fan of Godzilla movies?
Godzilla is the English name for the giant, amphibious, reptilian monster, Gojira (1954). Gojira was the first of many "giant monster" movies to be produced in Japan. The North American adaptation, Godzilla (1998), stars actor Matthew Broderick. The plot involves the giant mutated dinosaur-like monster roaming around New York City.

    • Jack: G. Gordon, don't give me another reason to shoot you.
Jack says this to Maybourne while they are engaging in an electronic break in. "G Gordon" refers to G. Gordon Liddy, one of the most famous of the conspirators involved in the Watergate break-in scandal.
