    With.

I think the new seasons are better then the older ones, but that might just be the writing.

And of course he's full of himself, he was a fighter piolet and the got promoted up to the leader of the front team of the most secret project in the Air Force, Any one'd be up themselves, lol.

He will never replace O'neil but he is a good character.

The only thing is that he seems to be taking over the screen from the other members of SG-1 who've been there eight years longer than he has. That's my only problem

I really like mitchell's character, he's not the same as o'neill, but why should he be... he's good in his own right. Maybe i like him cos he gets most of the jokes!!!

definatly WITH because the team needed a strong outgoing leader that they didn't have in season 8 which is why it was a mediocre season and the writers needed another character to play with

I think WITH.  He brings humour to the show, and acts as a perfect Abbott to Daniels Costello (See "The Fourth Horseman, Part 2- the "Dark side intergalactic encyclopedia salesmen" line was hilarious!)

WITHOUT. I agree with you, he's annoying. And they are trying to make him like O'Neill. I mean come on, the sarcastic Colonel position has already been filled. Snuff Mitchell, bring back Jack!

I think the show is better with him, and at the same time I know he does on some level 'replace' O'Neill but the writers did do a good job of keeping the two personas separate. But that's just my opinion and I can understand why some people do not like him, but personally I do.

He started to grow on me a little but then I did something that completely undermined all that - i watched some old episodes with jack in, and now i can barely watch Mitchell without thinking "Jack's so much funnier than you" (with some evil glaring at the TV as well).

Jack is unique. He IS much much better than Mitchell. I also tried to "accept" Mitchell, but I can't get rid of that feeling his character is too much "artificial" - can't explain it - seems like the writers are trying to make him funny at any cost. RDA didn't need that. He had this natural sense of humour.

Even something so banal like a 1 word dialogue with Daniel was simply legendary (Jack: Daniel?; Daniel: Jack?)

Maybe I just love RDA too much, I don't know. Or it is maybe because I keep re-watching SG-1 (all seasons) over and over again. Yeah, pathetic, I know. But I can't help it.

In the meantime I think I know every sentence of every episode of SG-1...

    I really miss RDA.

Well, I like Mitchell, I think he's cool... and besides compared to season 8 with O'Neill, i think he is better, If Jack had stayed it would probably be on the lines of season 8.
Anyway I'm sick of people comparing Mitchell to O'Neill, cos it's true he'll never be like Jack, he just needs a bit of time to develop his own unique character, unfortunately it looks like his time will be cut short.
In conclusion... LOL... I think Mitchell is great!!

Yeah, now that you've put it into words, I get that same feeling too. He has only been around for a season and a half so we haven't really had the chance to see his character develop. Hopefully there will be more before the season (or series) ends. I don't like him and I don't *not* like him. He's more likeable in some episodes more than others. I didn't like Gen. Landry at first, but I've warmed up to him a bit as well as Mitchell. People might have thought differently of both Gen. Landry and Mitchell if Gen. Hammond and Jack hadn't been on the show at the beginning and for such a long time. (Don't get me wrong, I like them both, just saying...it's hard to adjust).

No amount of complaining will bring RDA back for a full time part and Cameron is a good replacement, he brings back life and humor that was missing when Jack left. Go back and watch the first season shows, all the characters were stiff and artificial, it took a few years to get the chemestry right and Mitchell is fitting in better after 2 seasons than the team was in season 2, it'll just take time for the new team to fit together better.
That being said Cameron is very simaler to Jack but even more simaler to John Crichton.

Browder is a terrific actor, you just have to look at the difference between Mitchell's personality and that of Jon Crichton from Farscape. So I'm saying with, because he is different than O'neill. I would compare him more to Sheppard from Atlantis than O'neill and that is no bad thing.

Don't get me wrong, O'Neill made Stargate what it is, but he could never come back and play his old role because, well he's a General, and he's...dare I day it...getting older! He's still got it, there's no denying it, but I think he'd be better suited to commanding a ship or something like that.
