Episode Recap

A Russian cosmonaut on the international space station is adjusting the station to avoid debris from the fight with Anubis when a piece of debris drifts by and a smoky presence leaves it and enters the station. A Colonel Alexei Vaselov arrives and meets with Jack – Vaselov expects to be assigned to SG-1 and O'Neill assures him he'll have to go through training like anyone else. Daniel goes to meet with him and Vaselov collapses in the middle of their conversation. Vaselov is taken to sickbay where the new medical officer, Dr. Brightman, takes a look at him. When he wakes up he has no memory of having come to SGC and has a large number of lesions. They stop Daniel from departing off-planet so he can receive a medical check-up and he goes berserk and starts shooting – Teal'c takes him down but he's resistance to zat stun and Jack has to shoot him. Daniel wakes up in okay condition but Vaselov is dying from the longer exposure. Jack isolates the base and Vaselov slowly recalls what happened to him but from outside his body, as if his consciousness was displaced. Daniel reports similar memories and they determine that Vaselov was in contact with the cosmonaut on the space station, who has since died. Teal'c and Daniel conclude that the matter is a case of alien possession – Anubis exists in a energy form thanks to his semi-Ascended state and is now trying to possess a body to go through the Stargate and get to a secret base to get a force field to contain his energy-essence. Daniel remembers that Anubis moved on to the nurse treating him and then another officer – Jack confronts him and the Anubis essence escapes. Daniel concludes that they simply have to prevent Anubis and he'll eventually have to use his powers, drawing the attention of the Ancients. Sam comes up with isolation procedures but it's Anubis in her body and she blasts and fights her way through until Jack stuns her. Jack orders the self-destruct sequence and heads for the stargate, which has been activated by a remote program Anubis activated. Sam convinces Teal'c she's no longer possessed and she shuts down the self-destruct. Vaselov, dying from the overexposure to Anubis, confronts Jack/Anubis and threatens to kill them both if Anubis doesn't enter his body. Anubis does so and goes through the stargate, but Sam has reprogrammed the gate to an ice world where they are both frozen and Anubis is contained.
