This episode was packed with story lines. A exciting way to start the new season. At the beginning of the episode, Sg1 was looking for a new member and Jonas wanted to join. Noone wanted him on though. Then Teal'c finds out his wife died and goes there. While he's gone Anubis attacks. It's fun to watch how all the story lines come together. But is this just me or is this the first season that isn't the end of a movie event started in the last season. But one things for sure. It was a great way to start the season with out Daniel.moreless
  • good episode...

Anubis attacks the earth stargate with his own and the SGC can't figure out how to stop it. Teal'c is off world crying about his dead wife. Ry'ac is pissed at his father for darning him and his mother to a poor life. They argue a little but then they talk and it's all better. Anyways, this episode was not that good. It had a great cliffhanger with Anubis coming on and saying you're all going to die, but it wasn't the best. Jonas was just randomly walking around and drinking coffee, which was weird. McKay came in and was halarious with Carter. Anyways, good episode and a good cliffhanger.moreless
  • Anubis has taken his opposition with Earth

A really adventurous and exciting episode.

First we have a little sadder part as Teal'c learns his wife is dead and there is some things to make clear for his son but he is offworld what can be good in the end.

On Earth - Jonas wants to get to SG-1, noone wants him there.. and then they get incoming wormhole.. looks ok.. but after 38 minutes - it does not close.. and soon they realize the danger they are in - it is Anubis who has decided to take of Tauri and by using one stargate to destroy the other. We have McKay on scene and some fun.. we have Russians, new ship what should jump hyperspace but did not.. and.. oh.. they end up in trouble..moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (6)

    • During the many scenes featuring the countdown clock until the Stargate explodes, the 1/100th of a second counter is counting upwards from 00 to 99 every second, while the others (hours, minutes and seconds) are all counting downwards as they should.

    • When General Hammond is looking out of the window at the stargate (about 17 mins into the episode), there's a reflection in the window of how long the gate has been opened for but it's the correct way around and readable, it should be backwards as it's a mirror image.

    • When the alarm goes off near the end of the episode (for Anubis to gloat), why do Carter and O'Neill run to the gate room? They had no idea why the alarm was sounding and the gate can transfer many different kinds of energy and or radiation. Why didn't they go to the relative safety of the control room like they usually would when the alarm sounds?

    • The coordinates input into the X-302 to go to Abydos were incorrect, the last 2 glyphs should be switched, no wonder it didn't work!

    • Lt. Simmons is still a 1st Lieutenant after 4 years! He should have made it to Captain by now.

    • When the attack on Earth started, the computer monitor displayed the boxes where the glyphs go as green instead of red. Red is an incoming wormhole, green is an incoming wormhole when an IDC code is sent. There was no IDC sent.

  • QUOTES (19)

    • (inside the X-302)
Jack: It's too bad we can't drive across the galaxy. This thing handles like a Cadillac on the ground.

    • Jack: Hammond is insisting SG-1 needs a socio-political nerd to offset our overwhelming coolness.

    • Sam: Sir, the X-301 was a modified glider. However many of the 302 systems were retro-engineered from Goa'uld technology, it is entirely human built.
      Jack: So was the Titanic...

    • Mission Control: Return to base for further evaluation. Mission failure.
      Jack: I hate hearing that...

    • Anubis: Humans of the Tau'ri - your end of days finally approaches! There will be no mercy!
Jack: Oh come on! Who talks like that?

    • Jack: Why aren't you downstairs with the other eggheads? ...Not that you're an… egghead. Well, you are actually, but in a good way.
Sam: I couldn't think down there. They all kept looking at me for the answers.
Jack: Well, you do have a penchant for pulling brilliant ideas out of your butt. Head. Out of your head. When we need them.

    • Sam: They're still analyzing the flight data recorder, but it looks like a 605-3 error.
      Hammond: Forgive me?
Jack: It's the one after 605-2, sir.

    • Sam: Sir, the simulations we ran anticipated every conceivable scenario.
Jack: It's the inconceivable ones I'm concerned about.
Sam: The X-302 has hundreds of safety mechanisms to compensate for anything that can go wrong. Arming ejection system. (grins)
Jack: That's good... that's good, very funny.

    • Sam: Inertial dampeners?
      Jack: Cool, and check.
      Sam: Engines?
      Jack: All check. Phasers?
      Sam: Sorry, sir...

    • Sam: You know, sir, even if we do manage to contact the Asgard, there's a chance they won't be able to help us.
      Jack: What's your point, Carter?
Sam: Guess I don't have one beyond that, sir.
      Jack: Thank you.

    • Murphy: I assume you were briefed on the way here?
      Jack: Briefly.

    • Jonas: Still, I'm usually much better at reading people.
Chekov: Why was I not informed about the X-302?!?
Jonas: For example, it might not be that obvious to everyone, but this man is actually very upset.

    • Teal'c: Have you considered Jonas Quinn?
Jack: Now I know you've been practicing, but I still can't tell... is that a joke?

    • Jack: I can be as diplomatic and open-minded as anyone...
      (Teal'c raises an eyebrow)

    • Jonas: I'll tell you what. If I knock you down, you gotta talk to Colonel O'Neill about me.
      (Teal'c nods, knocks Jonas down)
      Jonas: I'm okay. I wasn't ready... I'm ready now.

    • Hammond: Colonel Chekov feels that as a symbol of our joint efforts, a Russian officer should be assigned to join SG-1.
Jack: Over my rotting corpse, Sir.
      Hammond: Colonel...
Jack: I'm sorry - did I say that out loud?
Hammond: I said I would discuss it with you and I'm sure you would give it some careful thought.
Jack: And that I will, General. But I'm still pretty sure I'll say "bite me."

    • Jonas: (talking about the Weather Channel) But this one... this one is fantastic. I mean you have... all of your weather from all over your planet right here. Even a long-range forecast. It's like... predicting the future.
Sam: (somewhat offended) There is some science involved.

    • Captain Hagman: I swear, sir, I thought they wanted to smoke a peace pipe.

    • (preparing to go on a mission with SG-1)
Jonas: How do I know what color to wear?
Sam: We call each other every morning.

  • NOTES (9)

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • Jack: So was the Titanic.
The Titanic was an ocean liner built in the U.K. She was the biggest passenger steamship of that time. The Titanic was considered unsinkable. On her first voyage however, she hit an iceberg and sank, killing 1,517 people.

    • Jack: All check. Phasers?
A phaser is a weapon used by personnel of the Federation in Star Trek (1966). Phaser stands for Phased Array Laser. Its operational beam consists of two components: a visible beam of charged particles, and an X-ray laser component which does the actual damage.
