  • So close, yet so far!

This is without a doubt one of the best episodes as of late, that Stargate sg1 has to offer. Bit by bit episodes have been building to reach this very point. Merlin is finally located and the weapon almost built. The final curtain is getting closer and this is the episode to prove it. Not only imagination abound but great adventure and lots of action also. Every time i watched a somewhat boring episode, i'm surprised with some good quality writing and plot within episodes like this one. It is great in every possible way i can imagine, and looking forward to seeing the next intriguing twist in the season.moreless
  • great episode...

This is the continuation of the previous episode and it was great. The team meets Merlin and tries to create the weapon before Adria tracks them down. Daniel downloads Merlin's memories into his and he tries to create the weapon, but Adria stops him. Mainly, the story was ok on this episode but everything else was great. I loved Vala's freak out and Mitchell's explanation of how she just really bacame a member of the team because she has to watch her team put their lives in danger. I also loved the dynamics between Ba'al and Sam. It was halarious. Overall, the character dynamics made the episode. The ending was pretty sad; Daniel was captured by Adria. Of course, SG-1 will rescue him at some point, but still; great episode.moreless
  • Search for Merlin weapon continues..

    9.6
Mm.. what made this episode so good? The first part was action and adventure, fast motion, then this part is more standing on same place but that does not mean nothing major is going on. They find Merlin himself and they have change to ask him everything but he knows his time is soon out so he uploads all his memories to a familiar device and then dies. And Daniel downloads them into himself.

In meanwhile Adria is left behind as she cannot use her powers and she is trying to get for them.. and in the end she does.

I liked the motion on this episode. There are always something going on. And the possible knowledge Daniel has.. and Vala worrying about him..moreless
  • This is the ending half of a two part episode. In it SG-1 is instantly transported to many worlds against their wills. Sam and Baal have to find a way out, before Adria catches up to them.moreless

This was a pretty good episode - for the more recent Stargate. I have not liked Stargate as much since the Ori have been on. Since then, this is one of the better episodes. It contained some of the old characteristics of the show - the ones that made it worth watching. I liked the plot point where they kept getting transported to different worlds. Daniel Jackson's part in this episode was good, he started to reshow some of his better, older qualities. Sam did, too. In the last handful of episodes she seemed overconfident with her job, like she thought she could do anything. I'm glad they brought her back to the way she used to be. It was definatly the Sam I know who punched Baal. Overall this ended up being worse than most of the old Stargate's. However, in the last two seasons, it shone as a beacon for what the show can be in the future.moreless
  • Great episode

    9.5
This episode was very enjoyable and adventurous...The team together with Adria and Ba'al have to fight a dragon, and thanks to the knowledge of Jackson, they manage to find out his name and in doing this, to vanquish him...They are teleported to another planet, where they find the frozen body of Merlin...Using a device they manage to unfrozen it...Merlin, seeing that he has no chance to defeat the Ori, uses another device to transfer his powers to Jackson...Jackson manages to build the weapon, before being captured by Adria...Ba'al gets hit by an Ori soldier, and his situation remains unknown...I think that the ending of this season will be very interesting, particularly if there is going to be another season.moreless

    • Daniel: Where's Adria?
Sam: I guess she didn't make it.
Daniel: Must be some kind of security measure.
Mitchell: I don't know. They let him in. (pointing at Ba'al)

    • Daniel: We've come too far to give up now.
Ba'al: It's just that kind of noble sentiment that's gonna get us all killed.

    • Mitchell: You detonate from the tree line and I will do the running. (Teal'c grabs his arm) That's all right, Teal'c, I've got this one. (Teal'c continues holding his arm) All right. Off you go.

    • Ba'al: You obviously have no idea what you are talking about!
Carter: Says the brainiac who spent three days trapped in that forcefield.

    • Vala: Can I get you anything.
Daniel: Water. (water bottle flies to his hand) Okay, that happened.

    • Mitchell: (about the dragon) Which means that it's not a hologram. If it was a hologram the bullets would have gone straight through.
Ba'al: So it's not that your weapons aren't ineffective, it's that they're ineffective in a different way.

    • Mitchell: (about the Sangraal) It's real this time, right?
Daniel: I don't see why not. (tries to grab it and his hand passes through it)
      Sam: Oh, come on!

    • Daniel: I'll be fine.
Mitchell: That's crap. She's right–-you don't get fancy mind powers unless there's been major redecorating going on inside your skull.

    • Vala: (about Daniel) You have to tell him that he doesn't have to do this. He'll listen to you.
Mitchell: Ah, what team have you been on?

    • Adria: How are you feeling?
Daniel: I don't suppose you know what a hang-over is? (Adria looks confused) Never mind.

    • Sam: How is Daniel?
Mitchell: He's… sitting up. I'll get back to you on the rest.

    • Mitchell: While we're waiting for him to come to, we'll go look for a way out.
Ba'al: Let me know what you find. (Teal'c grabs him be the collar) Or, I could come to.

    • Ba'al: (to Sam) I know where you come from you're considered relatively intelligent, but by galactic standards that's not really saying much. Wouldn't you agree?
Sam: (punches him) If you're not going to look at this, then you're not really helping. And if you're not really helping, theres really no point in keeping you alive. Wouldn't you agree?

    • Ba'al: It wouldn't be much of a security measure if it could be discovered by the first Tau'ri female who comes along, would it, now?
Sam: I'm sorry, are you dismissing my idea out of hand because I'm human, or because I'm a woman?
      Ba'al: A little of both, I suppose.

    • Ba'al: Looks like Merlin's drawbridge no longer goes all the way across the moat, if you catch my meaning.

    • Ba'al: Merlin's little trick with my vocal cords expired the same moment he died.
Teal'c: Yet another reason to mourn his passing.

    • Daniel: I don't know, name magic is common in most mythologies. To know something's secret name is to steal its power.
Mitchell: So what are we supposed to do, just start guessing?
      Vala: Darryl the dragon.
      Mitchell: How bout Smokey?
      Teal'c: Perhaps, Puff.

    • Mitchell: (to Vala) Now you know the hard part about being part of this team is not risking your own life, it's watching your friends take chances with theirs. Congratulations. Now you really are one of us.

  • NOTES (2)

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • Vala: Daryl the Dragon.
Vala's suggestion of a name for the dragon/wyvern references Daryl Dragon, the "captain" half of the pop duo "The Captain and Tennille."

    • Teal'c: Perhaps Puff.
Teal'c's suggestion for a name for the dragon in the beginning of the episode is a reference to the song, Puff the Magic Dragon, which tells the story of an imaginary dragon, who is abandoned when a little boy stops believing in him.
