Stargate SG-1

Season 10 Episode 20

Aired Friday 8:00 PM Jun 22, 2007 on Syfy

  • Trivia

    • Teal'c's age makes one wonder how Jaffa really age. In the season 4 episode "The Light", Teal'c says he is 101 years old. Going by the time that passed on the ship, he's older than 150 years at the end, yet he looks as if he's in forties. In the season 5 episode "Threshold" it's stated that Bra'tac is 137 years old and he looks much older than Teal'c looks being 155.

    • Trivia: Apparently Jaffa age at a rate of about a third of humans. Teal'c aged to about 130, but only looked to be in his 50s and he claimed to still have many years left.

    • The whole idea of the reverse time bubble seems flawed. Sam turns on a shield to exclude Teal'c from it, but once time is reversed, wouldn't it reverse time so Sam would turn the shield off?

  • Quotes

    • Mitchell: And then what? I've said it before, I am for fighting to the death, but we need a plan. Preferably one that avoid the "to the death" part.

    • Mitchell: Are you saying it took two weeks to figure out this idea wouldn't work?

    • Mitchell: Hey, Sam, do you remember when we were stuck out of phase?
      Sam: Which time?

    • Thor: General, with your permission a number of Asgard are prepared to beam aboard immediately to begin installing various technological upgrades to this ship.
Mitchell: Hope it's ray guns.. I got ray guns in the pool.

    • Landry: Okay, it's only been a couple of weeks.
Vala: I have a problem with the word "only."

    • Carter: Of course if it takes a little longer...
Mitchell: Whoa, longer than three months?
Landry: The bottom line is, none of you are going to have any excuse for being behind on your paperwork.

    • Vala: You do like girls?
      Daniel: Yes!

    • Thor: You are the fifth race. Your role is clear. If there is any hope in preserving the future it lies with you and your people.
      Sam: No pressure, huh?

    • Teal'c: This vessel does not have a pool.
Mitchell: I was talking about the gambling variety.

    • Vala: Oh come on! It's driving me insane. You know technically there would be no danger in creating a time paradox because we've already changed the future events. You would not be altering the future by telling us anything about something that's not going to happen anymore.
Teal'c: Then why do you care?
Vala: 50 or 60 years? Something interesting must have happened? Obviously I hooked up with someone. Was it you, Muscles? Can't of been Mitchell, can it? General Landry?

    • Mitchell: When I said that I wanted to get the team back together, work with you guys, learn from ya. I did not mean every waking moment for the next 50 years.
      Daniel: You said that yesterday.
      Mitchell: I did?
      Teal'c: And the day before.
Vala: And the day before that.
Mitchell: Oh, sorry. I'll just shut up now.

    • (Final Lines)
      Landry: Dial it up, Walter.
      Walter: Yes, sir!
      (begins to dial the gate)
      Walter: Chevron One, encoded.
Mitchell: That is how we are supposed to travel millions of light years across the galaxy to other planets.
      Walter: Chevron Two encoded.
Mitchell: Y'know, I'd like to think I handled myself pretty well, but I'm guessing I went a bit crazy cooped up on that ship for so long...
      Walter: Chevron Three encoded...
Daniel: Y'know, Teal'c did tell me some things I learned from the Asgard knowledge base...
      Vala: He did?! Like what?
Daniel: Oh boy, what were they?
      Walter: Chevron Four encoded.
Daniel: Beggars can't be choosers... better late than never... look before you leap...
Mitchell: ...the best things in life are free.
Vala: And let me guess, beauty is only skin-deep?
      Daniel: Silence... is golden!
      Walter: Chevron Five encoded...
Mitchell: Jack of all trades, master of none!
      Sam: Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
      Vala: Life is too short...
      Walter: Chevron Six encoded...
Teal'c: Good things come to those who wait.
Sam: You know, as hard as it is for us not knowing, it must be torture for you not to tell us.
      Teal'c: Indeed.
      Walter: Chevron Seven is... locked.
      (Gate activates)
      Landry: Good luck, SG-1!
Mitchell: Just another everyday mission to save the galaxy, sir.
      Sam, Daniel and Vala: Indeed!
      Landry: Godspeed.
(SG-1 walks through the gate once more)

    • Mitchell: What we need is we need Superman to fly around the ship really really fast.
Sam: If you only knew how ridiculous that was.
Mitchell: It only sounds ridiculous till you hear yourself say "I am trapped in a spaceship stuck in a time dilation field."

    • Vala: Do you think the Ori warriors could have found a way to get through the time dilation field and over here onto the ship?
      Teal'c: No.
Vala: Cause I'm hearing things all the time. Are you hearing things?
Teal'c: I am trying not to.
Vala: Maybe they found a way to ring over but they can't find a way to secretly shut off the time dilation field. So they're trying to drive us crazy and make us shut it down ourselves.
      Teal'c: No.
      Vala: That wasn't a question.
      Teal'c: No.

    • Vala and Odyssey crew: Surprise!
      Daniel: Not my birthday.
Vala: Haha... Hey! We made a weird cat piñata thingy.
Daniel: I told you to bring something to amuse yourself. I didn't mean me or the crew.
Vala: They won't believe that it's my birthday... again.
      Daniel: Not my problem.
Vala: Being stuck on this ship is worse than being stuck at the SGC. I tell you the last time I was this bored, I took hostages.
      Daniel: I was there.

    • Vala: I'm going to go crazy and I'm taking you with me!

  • Notes

    • This is the second time Claudia Black and Ben Browder's characters grow old together and then, when time's reversed and they're young again, forget the whole 50 or 60 years lived in the alternative timeline. The first time they did it in Farscape, season two, episode "The Locket."

    • The simulations of the Odyssey being destroyed are re-used shots of the Korolev's destruction, from the season nine finale, "Camelot."

    • The last words of Teal'c, in fact the whole SG-1 team is "indeed."

    • Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks, Christopher Judge, and Gary Jones are the only ones who appear in the first and last episodes of Stargate SG-1.

    • This episode first aired in the UK on the 13th of March 2007 on channel Sky One.
This episode aired in Canada on Space on June 21, 2007.

    • Music: Have You Ever Seen The Rain by Creedence Clearwater Revival

    • In-joke: When Vala asks how they can tell the Asgard apart and that this is Thor come to visit, Daniel says "it's the voice". Thor is voiced by Michael Shanks.

  • Allusions

    • Mitchell: It's the Love Boat without the band and the buffet.
Love Boat was a television show which ran from 1977 to 1986, featuring a cruise ship on which a new set of passengers would work through their problems with love every week.

    • Mitchell: What we need is we need Superman to fly around the ship really really fast.
This is in reference to the ending of the 1978 movie Superman, where Superman (Christopher Reeve) flies at supersonic speed around the Earth, reversing its spin and, thus, reversing time (to undo the effects of the California earthquake caused by Lex Luthor.
