Show Summary

Starlight was a television program that first aired on November 3, 1936. It was one of the first original British television shows that aired on the BBC Television Service and was broadcast the second day of the opening of the BBC Television Service. Starlight ran until 1939 and shut down due to television suspension that occurred because of World War 2. It later came back after the war in 1946 and ran until 1949. The show was broadcast live and featured a variety of acts such as singers, dancers, and comedians. They provided variety entertainment and specialty acts. Starlight featured guests that were from the music hall era which provided theatrical entertainment. The show features in live from the studios at Alexandra Palace. Due to the fact that Starlight was broadcast live it was never recorded which means there is no footage of it. Pictures of the show that were taken during its time are the only memory of the shows existence.
