      • The photos hanging inside of Wally Stone's (Chuck McCann's)hideout at the studio are from McCann's NYC-based comedy/variety kids tv shows. This episode of "Starsky & Hutch" is based upon the scandal of former silent film comic actor Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle, who was wrongly accused of murdering actress Virgina Rappe' during a wild party in a San Francisco, CA hotel back in 1926.

      • Make-up supervisor for the series, Layne Britton, nicknamed "Shotgun", has a cameo role in this episode, as the film's assistant director, aptly named "Shotgun".

      • In one of his first television roles, a pre-big time Jeff Goldblum plays film director Harry Markham in this story.

      • The 'Stage 17' of the episode's title is quite likely an in-joke to the fact that most of the series' main sets were on Stage 17 of the ABC lot.
