While there are moments in this one that could have been handled better… for instance, it could have been made with more of a sense of vengeance coming out in Hutch, all in all, this is one of the better episodes in this series. I mean, how many new ways can you think of to nearly kill off one of the lead characters? This series had a good short run, and was smartly stopped before it had a chance to become truly stale. But anyway, Paul Michael Glaser directed this one, and he did a fine job behind the camera. There were a lot of close-ups in this one that caught the nervousness, the insomnia, and the obvious affection the main characters felt for one another as they awaited Starsky‘s presumed fate. It was a very thoughtful, reflective episode and served as a fine ending to the series.
