  • Another great Static/Batman team up!!!!

    10
As much as I enjoyed "The Big Leagues", "Hard As Nails" is much better. It has a great storyline and great dialogue - and in this ep Static and Batman find out each others identities!!! Not to mention the fact it's set in Gotham City and features the classic tag team of villainy Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn!!!

I love those 2 girls together so it was great to get another Harley and Ivy episode. Also featured are Alfred, Commissioner Gordon and Harvey Bullock. The funniest part is when Bullock asks Gordon what Robin did to his hair when he sees Static!!! The Nails character was pretty good too and it was nice to see Batman accept Static as an equal at last. possibly my favorite Static/Batman crossover.moreless
  • A great start to season 3. Now Static has a black, blue, and yellow costume and wears a cool orange skater like long sleeve t-shirt of the yellow, blue, white, and red t-shirt. New adversaries,Poisen Ivy and Harley.moreless

This is a great start to season 3,static has a black, yellow, and blue costume and batman appears for a 2nd time in the series. This time Robin is with the Teen Titans, revealing the teen titans from the cartoon "teen titans" were already having adventures.

Also that Robin is actually Tim Drake in the static shock world and in the teen titans world he is a Robin of his own.

Poisen Ivy and Harley Quinn set up a website for bang babies with problems controlling their superpowers. They get Ally Langferd as their 1st guiena pig and trick her into stealing gold from a shipment on a boat. Harley ends up giving Ally aka Nails the formula, which turns out to be nail polish, and pushes her into the waters below. Batman saves her and Harley and Poisen Ivy are defeated. At the end Virgil see's Alfred the man he saw in the batcave, and finds out who Batman is,but ends up never telling anyone, not even Richie.

    A great episode to a great series!moreless
  • Static VS a bad girl team-up!

    9.7
This is episode is my favorite, partly because it includes the toughest bad girls-Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy! Static is hunting a mutant named Nails who's struggling with her gift and is taken in by Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, who use her to rob a gold ship. Static loses to them and is taken in by Batman who leads him back to the Bad girl-duo! After a big showdown with Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, Static manages to get the upper-hand and convinces Allie (Nails) to live with her powers. The gold is returned and Bruce wayne sets up an institute for mutants! I thought this episode was exciting and a great way to begin the 3rd season!moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (11)

    • Nails throws five claws at Static, but he throws seven or eight back at her.

    • In Virgil's flashback, Allie is putting make-up on over the patch of metal. Her eyes are open, even though the powder puff is hitting right next to one of her eyes.

    • At the end, Virgil was in the hospital with is street clothes on to see Allie. Then, Batman came in. When Batman was leaving, a close-up picture of Virgil is shown. However, you could still see the bottom of his clothes which was blue and black (that means he was in his Static uniform).

    • Poison Ivy is standing in front of Static when she binds him with the vines. Allie frees him and suddenly Poison Ivy is lifting off in the blimp...how did she get there so fast? And wasn't the blimp tied down? How would she untie them and climb in so fast?

    • When Static puts a power surge on the ship, shouldn't Poison Ivy also have been shocked? (Reply: Not neccesairily. Poison Ivy can control plants, and that covers wood. Electricity cannot work on wood as you see in the somewhat beggining of the episode, where Static is trapped inside the giant wooden thing.)

    • Poison Ivy makes the crew members on the ship pass out and fills the ship deck with vines. After that, both the crew members and the vines are gone - when they step on the ship

    • How in the world did Nail's coat come off by a tug? Wouldn't her arms keep it from cming off? And how'd it get stuck in the first place?

    • Take a look at Nails' face. The reflection from the light shows that she has the metal sheath on is always on the right side of her face (left for the viewers). You'd think that it would change from time to time, like when she turns her head. (Reply: This is not a reflection. Nails' covered the metal sheath using make-up, trying not to reveal herself to anyone.)

    • How in the world did Nail's coat come off by a tug? Wouldn't her arms keep it from cming off? And how'd it get stuck in the first place? (Reply: Actually, she shrugged out of the coat, rather than rip it or try and struggle to get it unstuck.)

    • There has been much guessing between fans on whether or not the Robin from Teen Titans is Dick Grayson or Tim Drake (by looking at their uniform). However, the creators of the show haven't said either way (as yet), letting the fans believe whatever they want. Though, from this episode of Static, Batman has said it's Tim Drake. (Reply: Both Dick Grayson and Tim Drake have been the leaders of the Teen Titans. When Grayson became Nightwing, Drake became the leader of the second generation of Teen Titans.)

    • Bullock has obviously already seen Static in "The Big Leagues," so why does he mistake Static for Robin? (Reply: Bullock only made a cameo appearance in the previous episode and Static wasn't with him. He was at a high altitude with Batman and Robin before they departed for Gotham City.)

  • QUOTES (7)

  • NOTES (15)

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • Alfred: Just once, I'd like someone to believe that.
This exchange, wherein Alfred jokes that he is Batman, is a reference to the first time he did so, to Barbara Gordon, in the Batman Gotham Knights episode "Old Wounds".

    • n/a: Batman: The Animated Series
When we first see Static, he's standing on a roof top with lighting behind him which alludes to how Batman stood in the opening credits of Batman: The Animated Series.
