Episode Summary

Static's dad is kidnapped by Omnara, a woman who once worked for Edwin Alva, committed to her research of learning Static's secret identity. Although, the only thing Static can do to free his dad is to steal Omnara's old research for another project she was working on. In order for him to do that, Static has to turn his back on Gear and do whatever it takes to ensure his dad's safety, along with keeping his identity a secret to everyone else.moreless

I really like this episode, mainly because I'm a sucker for when people learn about superheros' identities, especially if it's a family member that learns the secret. The only bad thing about this episode is that it marked the end of a really good series. I miss Static Shock. At least some of the eps were put on DVD. Hopefully the whole series will end up on DVD some day.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (5)

    • How does Gear expect to find Static using a tracer that, according to most of the series, only Static can trace? (Reply: It would be assumed that once Richie became super smart and became Gear, he would make it so he could track the trackers as well.)

    • Reply to above goof: It's most likely because Carmendillo wasn't in control of what he was doing that he was willing to answer to Static's interrogation.

    • Omnara's being hooked into the world's computers will not give her telekinetic powers, despite what happens in the episode.

    • Puff couldn't have come up with a more subtle way to be found instead of blowing giant fireballs into the air? Not to mention the fact that she risked blowing herself sky-high doing it.

    • Carmendillo can smash through stuff like shelves & walls with his hard shell, so how could Static interrogate him by dribbling him like a basketball?

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Robert: Is that...Richie?
Gear: (using gruff, deeper voice) Um...Mr. Hawkins. You have to understand the most secret part of a superhero is his secret identity. And, well, uh...
      Static: Yeah, that's Richie.
      Gear: Hi, Mr. H!

    • Static: If this is a trick, you won't be able to run far enough.

    • Puff: (about Static) I don't get it. We snatch one guy, and he acts like it's the crime of the century.

    • Robert: Of course, you'll have to tell Sharon.
      Static: What!? (Gear gasps)
      (Cut to the final scene)

Sharon: I don't believe this! The insurance company's giving me a hard time because they said I'm not covered for Bang Baby incidents. What do I have to do, get Bang Baby insurance? I've had it up to here with Bang Babies! If I hear any more about Bang Babies, I'm gonna explode! What's wrong? Was there something you wanted to tell me?
Robert: Nothing, honey. Nothing at all.
(Virgil and Richie give an exasperated sigh of relief)

    • (After a bus almost hits Static and his dad)
Robert: That's the first time I ever had a bus try to catch me.

    • Omnara: Did you get everything?
Static: Everything on your wish list. Not that you've been a good girl.

    • Static: Now what?
Omnara: Head for Lab 14 and watch out. You've got an armed chopper approaching from the south.
Static: I see it. Hey, do you do weather forecasts, too?

    • Static: Mr. Hawkins, I'm glad to see you're ok.
Robert: You can drop the act, Virgil.
      Static: You know?
Robert: Wasn't hard to figure out. Why else kidnap me to get to Static? And maybe, maybe in the back of my mind, I've always known.

  • NOTES (4)

    • Carmen Dillo: They was with Shiv. Yeah, that' s the ticket.
During Jon Lovitz's run on Saturday Night Live, he had a character known only as "The Pathological Liar" who would somehow get out of being caught lying with his catchphrase, "Yeah, that's the ticket."
