Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

• TRIVIA (4)

• Replay's powers are to make duplicates or energy clones of himself.

• Richie is Virgil's best friend. The entire show (or almost the entire show), Richie is angry at Virgil. Sure, it's not plausible that someone who can make copies of only himself make a copy of Static, but since metahuman powers are unpredictable, whos to say it couldn't happen? It's unrealistic that Richie would still be angry, or afraid, of Virgil after a small explantion.

• When Replay removes the fake Static's mask, it proves that he can only copy what he can see. But if that's the case, then how did he manage to copy the Shock Vox?

• When Replay first counts how many of himself there are to Static, there are six. Then, when they jump on him and attack him, there are seven! Then, once they attempt to hit Static with a bench, there are six again!

• QUOTES (6)

• (Richie goes into his room and sees Static)
Virgil: What are you afraid of?
Richie: Now... you!

• Static: Rich?
Replay: No, not rich. Not yet. But I'm working on it.

• Static: You know, when I was a kid, I spent a lot of time bumping around this hall of mirrors.
Replay & clones: So?
Static: So, I finally figure out that the trick was not to look in front of you but to follow the footprints on the floor.

• Richie: V!
Static: Sure I'm not the evil twin?
Richie: Oh, yeah. The twin's better looking.

• (The fake Static has pinned Richie using electricity onto a billboard)
Richie: How could you do this to me?
(Up next to Richie is an officer and two other men who are also pinned)
Officer: Well, for one thing, he's had a lot of practice.

• Replay: I'm gonna make so many of me, you won't have a prayer.
Static: Ooh! A room full of has-beens. Now, I am scared.

• NOTES (5)

• When Virgil changes into his Static costume in the mall, he does so in the bathroom. In the first issue of Static, we started out in the bathroom, changing into his costume.

• First time Virgil's dad almost finds out about Static's identity.

• During his research, Static points out that Little Johnny Morrow's show was cancelled after four seasons. Ironically, so was Static Shock.

• Replay resembles a character from Milestone's Hardware title, called Reprise. Reprise was a self-duplicating hitman Edwin Alva hired to eliminate Hardware, who'd gained a reputation for destroying Alva's illegal operations.
In addition, Static (in Static #9) did fight a similar foe (also in a mall) called Virus. Virus had the ability to split into smaller versions of himself. (A clone of Virus would only make both the original and the copy half their original size.)

• Replay looks a lot like his voice actor, Neil Patrick Harris.
