  • NOTES (3)

    • This episode contradicts what people were led to believe since the series first begun, that Albert took over the family business from his Father. In "Men of Letters" in 1970, Albert scoffs at Harold's story related to him by a local trader, who said he locked his old Dad out of the stables. Albert replied "that's not true either, that was me and your Grandfather".

    • We learn in this final episode that Albert was a fatherless child, and that the "Steptoe" on the gate refers to his mother, and not his father, as it had always been assumed by the viewers

    • Although the tv series ended with this episode, its characters lived on, first on Radio, with occasional radio adaptations of these colour episodes, then with a show tour in Australia in 1977, and finally a Kenco Coffee comercial in 1981, the last time the duo worked together. Harry H Corbrett died a year later, and Wilfrid died in February of 1985.
