Judy: I got this necklace at Kip's.
Marco: Did you get the stain on your shirt there, too?
(Linda takes off her coat to reveal a low-cut dress)
Judy: Hey, what's with the get-up?
Linda: I just dropped Perry off at the airport. He had to go back to Reno.
Judy: You wanted him to be able to see your boobs from there?
(Lauren has been disallowed to go to a party at Loyola)
Brian: There goes your one chance of being on a college campus without being on a herpes poster.
Brian: You were standing under a sign that said, "Beth Hillel Senior Center."
Lauren: Okay, Beth is a friend of mine, and she is a senior in college.
Brian: I'm not the dumb one, remember?
Bill: (on karaoke) You don't want [Judy] singing any more than I do. She's terrible. When she sings, angels die.
Music: Pat Benatar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", sung by Jami Gertz
Though credited, Joel Murray does not appear in this episode.
Brian compares him helping Lauren to The Human Torch saving Susan Storm from Victor von Doom. All these are characters from the Fantastic Four franchise.
The title borrows from the show Beauty and the Geek.
When Brian yells down from the attic that he and Lauren are taking a break, Bill replies, "if the Egyptians took a break, they wouldn't have finished that pyramid in Las Vegas," referring to the Egyptian-themed Luxor Hotel and Casino, which has a hotel designed as a large, black pyramid.
Linda asks Judy "Did you take the Wayback Machine, Mr. Peabody", a reference to Peabody's Improbable History, a series of cartoon shorts that aired in conjunction with several Saturday morning cartoons.
