Though Willie Gault appears as himself, his portrayed family of wife Karen and daughter Melanie is fictional. In reality, he has a wife, Dainnese, and two children, Shakari and Gabriel.
Linda: Why does my life suck?
Bill: (raises hand) Oh, oh, pick me!!
Bill: We're going to a party at Willie Gault's house!
Brian: Who's Willie Gault?
Bill: Dear God, I've raised a woman.
Judy: There was once a time in 1985 when I though Tim Wrightman was the right man for me.
Tim Wrightman: I've never heard that before. (rolls eyes)
Judy: How was Kami Kelly's birthday party?
Linda: Lot of lesbians!
Linda: Yes, really. Now I'm in a softball league, thanks a lot.
Bill: This is Willie Gault's ring. He's a friend of mine. He knows I have it.
Jeweler: If that's the case, what'd you lie for? Why'd you pass yourself off as a member of the team?
Judy: Well, I guess, you know, we liked how people gave us special treatment when we were wearing it, you know? Great service, free stuff--we were treated like royalty. You can understand that, right?
Jeweler: Yeah, if I was a terrible person.

When he's asked by Willie to have cocktails with some other 1985 Bears, Bill excitedly exclaims, "sippin' and hangin' with Bears," and Judy finishes with an "oh, my!" This is a play on the line "lions and tigers and bears, oh my!" from The Wizard of Oz.
