His voice defined much of my remembered childhood, and his turn on Storytellers provided an interesting insight into what he thinks when he looks at his music today. I loved that he opened the show by basically his songs about the heart flows from feelings of a moment more than a thought. He even takes the time to remind us that once we start something we need to listen to where were coming from, because that informs where we're going.
The Rising sung acoustically took that amazing song and ratcheted it up another notch. As much as I love the song and feel the pull from the CD/radio version, this stripped down version actually carries more power. The coupled section of the song really find's a great showcase, bringing such attention to the push/pull nature of that section of the song.
Springsteen's Smoky Robinson is hysterical.
