Ah, the cuties are up to it again. Time to welcome springtime. Funny, when Strawberry Shortcake introduces her friends, Angel Cake didn't have as much trouble getting the pound cake on the countertop back in the previous episode. Eh, no matter. Does Apple Dumplin' know about spring? Of course not. Whoa, her right ring finger and pinky look fused together when she shrugs. So Strawberry follows the old adage of singing about a subject when simple talk just won't do. And here I thought "Springtime" was the DVD music video instead of "A Snappy Ginger Snap". But that's BEFORE I sampled anything.

Time to work, without the lazy pets' help. Apple sure is one smart baby. Let's see, they got everything except...the seeds, as Custard points out. Ha ha ha. Oh, Angel Cake's come equipped with snacks other than standard cakes: upside-down cake, lady fingers, and bear claws. That's interesting. Here come Honey Pie and Huckleberry Pie. Darn it, Huck isn't up to working either; he and Custard must play around. In fact, following "Work Together", the two hypocrites in denial fancy climbing a dead tree. Hey, maybe he can use the tree's upper part broken off as a plow. I'm even amazed at how clean they're all staying regardless of contrary incidents.

Oh dear, the seeds have been dug up, and everything's still frozen. So Strawberry and Pupcake go on a little mission to find spring. Ginger Snap joins on the way and a short moment later mysteriously loses her basket. Then comes Orange Blossom. The birds, bees, butterflies...aw, look at the child tear up. Now for the third musical number "Jammin'". I declare, the show really knows how to specialize in various genres. But where does Orange's apron keep disappearing to? And how does she carry around a pitcher and glasses without spilling or breaking anything?

Meanwhile, Huck challenges Custard to quick digging. Look at the mess they make. And how's the travelling quartet doing? Directions point toward Huckleberry Briar, where spring supposedly comes first in the land. Pupcake gets stuck until a senior named Old Man Winter - the first human adult on the show - lends aid. Poor guy wants to go home but can't until spring arrives. He tells the four to head for the Land of Seasons; how they eventually find it, viewers may never know. They play around with a fairy girl, all miraculously without catching pneumonia, but the spotlight relays upon the mission again. Strawberry can't grow her berries, Ginger can't receive farm ingredients to bake cookies, Orange can't grow fruit, Old Man Winter can't go home...uh, berries ARE fruit. Anyhoo, the girl reveals herself as Spring and proceeds to catch up on her delayed job. And according to Strawberry, this calls for a garden party. In short, another excellent one on the same day.moreless
