- Goof: Dr. Hatfield says that septicemia is always fatal. However, equine septicemia, i.e. blood poisoning because of infectious bacteria in the blood stream, usually occurs only on foals, 3 to 4 days after birth. Rebel's Choice is clearly a full-grown horse, not a foal. Additionally, the death rate of septicemia ranges between 30-75%, so although the condition is severe and advances rapidly, it is not always fatal.
