I know it must be tough for him, and me as a Red Sox fan, but Terry Francona needs to stop being so personal with the Boston franchise. Anytime they are on Sunday Night Baseball he goes into too much detail about certain players, and comments on their morale and other insignificant things. He is a great asset because of the reason, but that is not his current job title so he needs to find a way to look at the team objectively. I feel like he is groaning every time they strike out along with me at home.

And there was plenty of reason to groan as a Red Sox fan in this one unfortunately.moreless

    • (on his starter Hiroki Kuroda)
New York Manager Joe Girardi: This is how good he's been. He has been on a tremendous roll for us and the consistency of his sinker and slider is really the factor.
      .
(on his right fielder Ichiro Suzuki)
New York Manager Joe Girardi: I think he's probably hit to his ballpark, in a sense, all those years. Seattle plays extremely large and if he had been a Yankee for a number of years, who knows how many (home runs) he might have hit? But we know that there's power there. You watch his BP and you can see it. Our ballpark's a little bit different, and you might see more power.

    • (on his starter Josh Beckett)
Boston Manager Bobby Valentine: I thought Josh had some of the best stuff that he's had in a while. He just had trouble with two hitters, (shortstop Derek) Jeter and (right fielder) Ichiro (Suzuki). They kind of did him in.
