  • A Really Fun Ballgame

I thoroughly enjoyed this game, which is rare for a high scoring 3+ hour game. I think part of it had to do with the fact this was a meaningful pennant race game. After two Cardinals-Cubs games and a Cardinals-Rockies one, this game had an energy to it that has been lacking in recent Sunday Night telecasts.

The back-and-forth was also enjoyable and I think the Rangers needed this game more than the Angels. To lose two out of three at home to your rival would not have been a good thing. I thought both starters gave a commendable effort given that neither had anywhere near the best stuff. It's pretty rare to see Jered Weaver missing location as badly as he did and as often as he did.

I think the Rangers will win the division. Anaheim can't keep going 7-1 and Texas is not going to go 3-7 too often. A very enjoyable way to spend a Sunday evening. :)moreless

I am really not a fan of AL West games, they usually bore me. I did not even tune into Games 1 or 2 of this series on MLB Network this weekend. It is Sunday Night Baseball though, so you have to watch and it was a pretty fun game.

I am not a Jered Weaver fan. He is way too inconsistent and if the Angels do make it to the playoffs, I don't trust him on the mound. This is his second terrible start this month, and neither was against that great a team (sorry but the Rangers have been asleep at the wheel as of late, and the Blue Jays were the other.)

Glad to see the Rangers get the win against Weaver, but truth be told I still want the Angels to win the division. Good game though, fun baseball game.moreless

    • Josh Hamilton: We kept battling. We have that never-say-die mentality. That energizes us, makes us feel we can come back and win

    • (on pitching on three days of rest for the first time in his major league career)
Jered Weaver: I don't think short rest had anything to do with it. I just struggled with location.

    • (on Josh Hamilton's home run, which broke a 3 for 21 slump)
Texas Manager Ron Washington: It was huge for us because we feed off of Josh. Elvis (Andrus) hits the triple, then Josh comes right behind that and hits a two-run bomb to tie it up. That's exciting right there, and energizing.
