Man, the Los Angeles Dodgers are really not giving Joe Torre much of a reason to stick around for more baseball. I understand that it will be difficult for them to make the playoffs, they will need to win a lot, and good teams will need to lose a lot, but you can at least play hard for the rest of the year. You don't make the playoffs so what? It's not the end of the world, but if you start building this year, then it will be easier to have a contender team ready when the 2011 season kicks off.moreless

  • TRIVIA (2)

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Hiroki Kuroda: (through an interpreter) It always helps to have run support. But I'm out there to do my job and that's what I'm going to do, no matter what situation I'm in. Even without run support, my job is to win the game.

    • Jonathan Sanchez: I just kept the ball down. It was an important game for us. I was getting ahead on every batter. I feel like I can go deep. I just get better every day.

    • (on their upcoming series at West Division leading San Diego)
Los Angeles Manager Joe Torre: We need to start something on our own, and we might as well do it against the best club in our division,. They certainly have been struggling, but we certainly haven't been setting anything on fire, and we need to do that.

  • NOTES (2)

    • ESPN debuted their new slow motion technology, called Ultra Slo-Mo, in this game. It was used to show pitchers' mechanics and batters' swings in super slow motion.
