Super Beaver is a television program from Summerhill Entertainment, and is produced on behalf of Canadian Geographic as part of a series called Canadian Geographic Presents. The show focuses on the beaver, which is the second-largest rodent on Earth, and takes viewers on a scenic journey through beaver habitats from South America to Canada. Super Beaver shows its audience the important roles beavers play in their ecosystem, and delves into the lives, diets, mating habits, and behavior of various beaver species. Most people know little about beavers, other than that they have large front teeth and can quickly gnaw through even thick pieces of wood. Super Beaver goes well beyond this, presenting beavers as complex and fascinating animals who build their own river dams to create still water ponds for themselves. Viewers also learn about threats to beaver survival, such as human encroachment and habitat destruction due to logging, poaching for fur and musk glands, and dam creation.
